Jacking - Which Suspension Level?

I've seen D3's jacked in Access level and also Off Road level. I don't think the handbook makes reference to suspension level.

What's the correct suspension level or, if there isn't one, what's good practice?

I not 100% sure on the D3 because I have a coiler, but if it's like my old Audi Allroad's air-suspension, by putting the D3 into jacking mode, it will automatically set the height accordly regardless of what the mode was before your started - but I stand to be correct...
LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

The good book does say offroad height . What I've found is if you do it in off road , the car normally wakes up as soon as you start jacking and lifts the wheel off the ground -which means less jacking . I think you need the doors closed though for this to happen

hmmm .... 'locked in access height' then open a door to prevent the suspension lifting ?
I'm sure I've seen that recommended somewhere.

depends on the type of jack being used maybe?

Hi Guys,

Definetly off road height for chassis jacking. If you read the fine print the self levelling function works regardless off doors open, I suspect that going to off road height is the key to stopping the self levelling when jacking. The other way to achieve it at road height is to put a trolley jack under the suspension arm instead of the chassis. This gets a wheel of the ground quicker but levelling will occur so make sure you are on a good surface, I do it this way in the workshop.

Rgds

one word of warning though, if anyone is to jack up their D3 the do not under any circumstances have the keys in the ignition and also opening the tailgate is a good idea as this will stop the air bags deploying!!

this happened to the guy that fitted my new tyres today and he told me it had happend to him!! Embarassed
