The D5 is price prohibitive and there is nothing currently comparable in the LR range that will meet my needs. I need to tow a 2.7 tonne horse trailer so the DIsco Sport won't work for me.

LR do seem to have abandoned a huge market sector

The RRS tows 3.5 tonnes and can be had with an additional row of seats in the boot for the same 5+2 configuration as the DS (although not the same full size 7 seats as the Disco, admittedly). I guess the RRS is too pricey too, of course.

Do you need to change from your current Disco?

If the D5 vs the D4 price was prohibitive then I wouldn't be sat in one ....my wife assures me of that Laughing

Down due to a mainly diesel range.

The car industry in general is suffering due to the demonisation of Diesel engines.

Sales figures for the D5 are in the “sales figures” thread Whistle

False demonization !!! remains the engine of the future par excellence

I've not looked at the RRS but I would expect that to be at least the price of the D5. I never liked the look of the old model but I do like the latest one.

I don't need to change now and am not planning to do so at the moment - I just like to consider options. What I will struggle to justify is that other options that would do the job and are nice vehicles are considerably less money.

The original Discovery back in the 1980's was aimed at a lifestyle market sector below that of the RR. JLR in my opinion have moved the Discovery well away from that sector and taken it into the sector that was RR territory.

For me I'm simply not prepared to invest the amount of money that the D5 is. This is now a case of deciding how long I keep the D4 (probably some time) and what I do after then.
