If it's got a flux capacitor it should be able to go back in time and we should have been told last October. Whistle Whistle

The Disco only turned up about half hour ago so I only had time to have a quick scout round while it was being unloaded, the battery is dead flat not even ignition lights but the tell was when I looked in the boot and see the viscous fan and cowling Laughing when I looked under the bonnet I was expecting the timing cover to be disturbed but itโ€™s untouched so Iโ€™m thinking the fan is off for access to the crank pulley bolt so Iโ€™m now expecting it to be seized solid, I had already locked the workshop so it will be tomorrow before I can check it Big Cry.
On the plus side the car looks very presentable with only a few marks, it has 4 new matching tyres only
budgets but still,
It doesnโ€™t have a fridge but on the plus side no sunroofs to leak Thumbs Up

My major disappointment was when the recovery lorry arrived and it had 2 scrappers on the double deck body and mine was swinging off the spec. Erm Driver itโ€™s an Auto with permanent 4 wheel drive... nice work ๐Ÿ‘
Is there any chance the gearbox isnโ€™t ruined?

Anyway Iโ€™ve ruled out the banana Laughing Rolling with laughter

Itโ€™s a Land Rover so if you expect it to be knackered then you wonโ€™t get too disappointed Thumbs Up
I know better than to reopen the workshop when dinners ready so no Iโ€™m not brave Laughing

The dragging it begs a question from me.

In France where I go on holiday, they are Censored hot at towing illegally parked cars.

A truck comes along, picks up the front wheel and tows it to a compound.

How would they (or anyone else) tow a disco away?

The towed it 80 miles Banging Head
Well on the plus the engine is seized solid so the body is coming off anyway and at least I donโ€™t need to unbolt my spare gearbox from my spare engine every cloud Laughing

Yeah thatโ€™s flat too but it was a forecourt so I suspect itโ€™s been sat a while, I reckon they sold it but had to buy it back when it seized and have cut there losses,
I will open the engine up once Iโ€™ve swapped it to see what went wrong and see if there are any salvageable parts for the next project although I reckon your spot on with the crank, interestingly thereโ€™s a sticker showing a recent cambelt change so I wonder if the oil pump was done as itโ€™s right on the suspect year. Thumbs Up

Yes it was seized solid, Iโ€™m in the process of taking the body off but itโ€™s been slow going as I have been fairly busy with the paying customers, Iโ€™ve managed to strip off both bumpers and the wheel arch trims, rear arch liners, rear brake pipes and wear sensors,

I prefer to be doing these all day than the other stuff I normally do, my other jobs I got done today (paying) I had to check over an adblue system on a 11 litre 8x4 Renault Kerax then road test it, 3 x safety checks and running repairs on a Volvo and 2 Dafs and I fitted a set of injectors to a 7 litre 6x2 Renault Premium and road tested that, and then change an air filter and drl bulb on a 8x4 Merc Arocs, damn it seems like a lot when you write it down and I felt like I had an easy day Thumbs Up

Thanks for the up date, very interesting, I used to be a truck mechanic a few years back, I don't miss it one bit although I still drive trucks occasionally. I still enjoy working on my own vehicles though, I've currently got eight so keeps me fairly busy. With the amount of work you are doing lets hope the gearbox didn't get damaged on delivery, you will need to know before you put the body back on, personally from what you have already said about the towing I'd reckon there will be some damage. No doubt in time you will strip the engine to see what caused the failure, you might even be lucky and be able to repair it. I'll look forward to your next up date report. Thanks, Dave.Thumbs Up
