Went to Tesco this morning & came out to find some 'nice person' had keyed my car Nice deepish scratch starting about an inch from the end of the passenger side front wing and going the length of the passenger front door Went to my local dealer and their smart repairs man had a look, he thought it was too deep a scratch for him but he had a go (there and then) and he managed to repair 95% of the scratch leaving me with a small line with a paint chip in the centre of the door. He did not even charge me for the work so a big to Giles at Gordon Lamb Land Rover.
I still didnt like what was left of the scratch/chip in the door so I had a word with a friend at my local bodyshop and he said that he could get the rest out but he would need the car for a day and it would cost me £65 all in.
Sorry no photos of the before and after as I was not expecting anything to be done when I took the D3 in for an estimate. But what has been done is perfect so far.
Thought that was going to be a very expensive repair. 1996 Discovery 1 300TDI ES Biarritz Blue, sold

Bit of a trend appearing?
Had ours keyed across the front bumper the other week.
Chipsaway said the scratch was too deep / long for him.
Decent local bodyshop did an excellent job for £100 plus vat.
Me thinks we should all keep an eye out Zermatt silver 06 reg.
Gone but not forgotten !!!

Tesco's round my way has CCTV in the carpark, if your's has might be worth having a word with them to see if you spot the little that did it. Even though it hasn't cost you much to get repaired the police may be interested if there's decent footage and it could stop them from doing it again The End

Thanks for all your replies.
Cliff it does seem as if theres a trend appearing here - the service manager said that they had just had their courtesy D3 car keyed as well
Slimer, unfortunately the CCTV system at Tesco did not cover the area of the car park I was in, but the security guard has told me to park nearer the entrance in future, let him know and he'll train a security camera on it 1996 Discovery 1 300TDI ES Biarritz Blue, sold

I blame the press for stirring all this anti 4x4 b**locks and making the situation worse. We had our ML keyed in a car park, just becuase the parking space were tight and it was a little difficult to get in and out of our car and the neighbouring cars. I watched the couple next to us struggle to get out of their car, as we then did too. Only to find when we got back, they had gone but there were scratches down 2/3rds of the side of our car. Matt

Quote:Why, what can he do?
I would'nt like to say, but it probably involves plasticuffs, axle grease and iron filings.

Had the door resprayed last week - thankfully I was able to get it mostly done under warranty as my local body shop found a small defect in the paintwork, just had to pay a total of £60 towards it. 1996 Discovery 1 300TDI ES Biarritz Blue, sold

Mine got keyed in my local Tesco's car park & their CCTV did not cover the area where I was parked either... I had to have both passenger side doors resprayed and it cost me a hell of a lot more than £60.00... I now park in the middle of two bays, as far away from the store entrance as possible... I get the occasional funny look but I really don't care... 2005 - Bonatti Grey TDV6 HSE...

Mine got keyed in a local retail park car park & their CCTV did not cover the area where I was parked either... I had to have both drivers side doors resprayed which came in at under £300. Also got hit by an egg thrown from a moving car. Made quite a mess of the B post plastic covers on the drivers side doors. 2005 TDV6 HSE Buckingham Blue / Alpaca

Blimey! I'd have thought there would be more tolerance towards 4X4's in Scotland
I'm looking forward to our holiday in Scotland in August, hope not to be egged.
