Just joined and already asking questions.............
Hi all,
Firstly wanted to say hello, I am not yet a D3 owner but hope to be one by the summer
I have a quick question about specification revisions...
I am looking to spend up to £30k on a used TDV6 SE or HSE and I wondered if there have been any major revisions in the spec of those two models - i.e. would a 2004/54 SE be the same spec as a 2006/06?
Kind Regards,

Hello and welcome
There were differences in the spec of the S model between MY2005 and MY2006.
I'm sure someone with a SE/HSE will be along to confirm whether the same thing happened to their models.

Oh yes, there are a few. I think the HSE is similar, but now has standard BT phone and cooler, but is more expensive than when I got mine in Nov 04. The big thing seems to be the omission of the Bi Xenon lamps on the 06 S & SE models. They really are light years (intended pun) better and used to be standard.
There are other details - like the omission of the windscreen ticket clips on the 06 model - as discussed in another thread, very useful things they are.

Hi,
Thanks for the responses!
Forgive my ignorance to all things LR, but it seems the suggestion is that the specs have reduced since the D3's release - surely not?!
Do I have a lot to learn?

I think the changes in spec. levels are called 'alignment' and happens with most new models, basically, they will survey customers of each spec level to see what they regard as essential or a waste of time, a %age of the essential stuff will get moved up to the next model spec to encourage people to 'buy up'. This also helps at manufacturing level as less vehicles are special build and allows dealers to order stock vehicles that people will want. An example is the addition of the cooler box and PTI kit to the 06 HSE spec, these were the most common add-ons to the 05 hse spec.

OK,
So I'm basically not missing out on much if I go for a 18 month old car then.
Cheers,

No you're not. One point though, if it has a blue tooth phone system, find out if it is factory fit or dealer fit, as there is a difference in features.
