Key fob playing up!!
Hi guys,
my key fob wont lock my car doors. It will open but not lock it
i think it maybe the battery in the fob, ive read it charges automatically when in the ignition. Ive not used my car for a few days, could this be the problem??
how long does the fob take to charge up, is it when its in the ignition that it charges up or does the engine have to be running??

If its unlocking the car but not locking i would'nt of thought it was the battery
Battery life approx 14 years ..if low the operating range is reduced !!!
I havent used my spare for over a year and i have just tryed it ..works fine .
Something else adrift i would of thoughtG4 Gone ...but not forgotten

I had to change to my spare about 4 months ago cos that too started playing up!!
anyone know how to test it out?

Drive the car around for a while with the key in the ignition- this should charge it, change the code, and all that fancy business... The LR key is a sealed unit so there's really not much you could do yourself. If it doesn't work after this I'm afraid it's off to the stealers with you.
SWMBO's key played up in a similar fashion last year. Drove the car around for weeks using just her key, took it to the stealers and had it recoded etc. etc but non of this made a scrap of difference.
The only solution - A NEW KEY Now an ex-D3 owner after 7 happy years. Miss the car but not the big bills
