Have been posting on the Greenpeace site out of anger about the damage to my car, politely of course.
Expected a lot of car hating veggies to reply but everyone so far has been apologetic and concerned.
Its Sunday morning and I do not want to go out to see if it has been hit again. Sad to say this but I may have to consider selling, but it is such a perfect family car. It does everything, from removals, to moving tons of kids about to transporting the family in safety and comfort. Easy to clean out as the family is so messy and I can throw the bikes in the back.
What car is going to give me all that without offending some cnuts sensibilities?
The police have been no use although they did say that there is a marked increase to damage to big cars and that I should try parking in a different street. Great!
BTW does anyone know if the standard alarm can be easily converted so that it goes off if someone touches the car.

just put some alfoil around the base of your D3, lightly dust it to conceal it and hook up the pos to the chassis and watch em fry (might fry the D3 though)

Croyde - sorry to hear about your damage. We had our car scratched deeply all down one side last month, beyond repair according to Chipsaway, so we have to take ours back to Mazda (it wasn't the discovery vandalised) for a full re-spray.. Great.
I follow your Greenpeace forum with great interest, seeing how they try and justify the damage to your car. That said, most of them have been especially understanding, which is nice.
What one person is saying, however, annoys me:
"You have to realise that by driving an SUV, you damage other people's way of life. As much as the other people don't have the right to damage your car, you don't have the right to damage the environment."
It's this naive belief that if we didn't drive Land Rovers, the ice caps wouldn't melt and global warming would simply end. Well, it's not just Land Rovers that emit Co2, obviously, it's (nearly) all cars which contribue to global warming. And as you quite rightly pointed out Croyde, the Discovery is very efficient, safe for pedrestrians and smaller than many cars.

I purchased a Microscan alarm with pager & fitted it myself. It senses body movement around the vehicle & triggers a "security please step away "message. The sensitivity is fully adjustable. It also has a adjustable trembler switch to sense movement of the vehicle to again alert the pager. Although this obviously won't stop any damage, the pager sends a warning to yourself that someone is messing with the car. Unfortunately these days, if you or the police, which is very unlikely, catch the person responsible the court will give them a slap wrist, a £1 out of the poor box & send them on their way. never drive faster than your guardian angel can fly

CY dare I ask how much the respray was? Although if I do repair the damage, it looks like it will only happen again.
I have to hope that they are happy with both sides done and and do not feel the need to add to their handiwork.
Boy! I hope I am not proved wrong.

We are yet to have the car re-sprayed, it's going to have to be an insurance job and they will take the car in for God knows how long.. and we're yet to find a time when we can do that..

BTW I saw your post with the statistic about Audi TT drivers over at the greenpeace forum. I thought it was my predujice that had labelled them complete to$$ers (including the one I saw going the wrong way round the Leicester ring road) but I see its statistically confirmed LOL.   2007 TDV6 HSE 'Silver Lady'. With 'free' privacy glass LOL.
Taking the greenpi$$ is: Green taxing your citizens more & using some of the money to buy nukes.

Yes, the alarm is simple to fit. As it is a stand alone unit there is no need to interfere with the car wiring system. Although the manufacturers state that for the current sensing to work it needs to be connected to the interior light fuse, I've found that due to the multitude of lights that switch on when the door is open, & I've done the "the horn fix" there is more than enough voltage surge to activate the microscan if wired direct to the battery.
General installation is only a couple of hours. If you wan't to know more feel free to pm me.

disconnecting the plug from the standard disco 3 alarm box will cause the car alarm to use it's horn instead of the feeble sounder used as standard.
try it, it works
