Drive away tailgate awning

I am just wondering if any one could recommend a drive away awning to fit on the rear of my disco. I am not particularly bothered about sleeping in it as i have my Oztent, it is really just for shelter while I cook and use the back of the car during the day.It would also come in useful when I use my roof tent so I can store things.
Any help or ideas would be appreciated (or if you have one for sale ) Thumbs Up

I don't own either, but at shows I've admired the "old school" simplicity of a Caranex. For a more "modern" approach Khyman had a unit that looked neat.

I had a Caranex with my old 300tdi. Used it for the same reason as you although it was big enough for sleeping in. I used it with our 2 berth tintent when we took our Grandaughter with us. She used the caraven with swimbo and I slept in the Caranex. Sold it with the car although I wish I'd kept it.

Can't say really, was a long time ago. Like any canvas sheeting it will move around in high winds and will need attention occasionally. Was a bit draughty around the bottom but that might have been me not grounding it properly and I would think they have been improved since I owned one. I bought it new in 1994 ish for around £300 iirc. Quite like the sound of sleeping under canvas, reminds me of my boy scout days Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

Yes you did my friend but i had different ideas then and went out and bought an RV4. I wish I had kept it now Big Cry I do fancy the idea of a Caranex so I would not need to pitch my RV when I am just staying overnight and sleeping in the car. (Which in the really bad weather (High winds ) on the N500 was ok Thumbs Up

Have you thought about an awning with sides? I have the howling moon awning with sides and don't use it much now I have the oztent but it's a great utility, cooking and changing room if I am using a small tent rather than the oztent. Dead quick to deploy too. And if the weather isn't bad you can just use the roof for cover.

I use one of these.....used on my D2 and D3...... this is the Autohaven Plus (plus means it’s got a separate sleeping ‘pod’ inside).

The blue groundsheet is not part of it......it has it’s own.
 Best Regards,
Dave.
