Knackered

Just had my Disco cleaned and detailed. Didn’t touch the engine bay. The chap said it was showing low battery, then I couldn’t start it , was showing 9v We jumped it and I managed to drive home.

Drive home fine then into reverse to drive down the street and it cut out.

Now it won’t start. I’ve had two jump packs in it but it’s as if it’s not holding charge even with a heavy duty booster it just keys over as if it’s not getting fuel.

Could the fuel pump cut out (with such little charge) if it stalled, in reverse, pointing backwards down hill

Now stuck blocking the street.

"didn't touch the engine bay" ??? 100% sure ???

does sound like water got in somewhere.

only other thing would be, battery was about to fail and door open kept lights on for long enough to kill it.

Thanks for the reply bud Thumbs Up

100% didn’t touch the engine bay. I drew in the dirt with my finger and it was exactly the same on collection.

Would a completely dead battery kill the fuel pump? When they boosted it, it would key over but not fire. It did say low battery when I went to collect it, we had to boost it to get it out of the bay.

+1 re. doors open for cleaning and the battery got fed up. If there were no issues prior to the cleaning, then it all points towards the battery being drained by having lights on for a long period.
Any battery history? Knowledge of age?

Try and get it running, then check the charge with a meter on the battery. Do not rely on any menu on the car showing Volts. This will give you an idea if the alternator is doing it's job. It will either need a long run, or an overnight charge (at least). A few minutes running is nowhere near enough to expect it to perform. These motors are VERY battery dependant.

If it won't run, disconnect battery and get it charged and drop tested properly. No need to think fuel pump as yet.. get the most obvious dealt with first.

I believe it’s the same battery from new 2010. I boosted it once in October last year but it’s been fine ever sine until yesterday. The journey home was only about a mile or even less. It just doesn’t want to start now.

In the AA or similar, or have a use of 2nd car? It certainly sounds like the battery, get yourself a new battery as 2010 is fairly old now to say the least Whistle

I'm pretty sure on my old D4 the inside lights went off after a while even with the doors left open, to aviod it draining the battery, in the same way that the radio switches off after 15 mins

If the valet guy had radio on and opened/closed doors a few times, then the car was awake...
It is clear that something has happened while it was away, and the most likely scenario is that the battery has been taken very low.
If you're not looking at DIY sorting it to keep costs lower, then I'm sure the Indy will sort it out for you.

Sounds like battery to me. They can suddenly die and take everything electronic with them, or it maybe that your man has just drained it completely. I'd put it on charge overnight. Thumbs Up

Mine went a few moths back with similar symptoms except my alarm was also going off. I had to disconnect the battery to stop it. I charged it for 2 days which sorted it and then I bought a new battery.

AA Have been and said it’s dead. Battery can’t hold charge. It was only on 9v when I collected it.

But now it has a fault with the fuel pump AA Chap read the codes for me. So awaiting recovery.

If it's only 9v, pound to as penny the battery has just failed. Nothing to be done, get a new one.
