Lake District jaunt

I want to take the missus for a nice stop over in the Lake District for our 15th wedded year, any nice hotel suggestions?

I can't name a specific recommendation, but there are plenty of hotels around Ullswater, which is a particularly wonderful part of the Lakes for a romantic weekend.

Thanks Gareth, that'll give me a starting point. I've had several friends mentions great hotels in the Lakes but I can never remember who said it or where it was Confused

I like the Britannia Inn at Elterwater. The owner is an old family friend.

There are plenty more as well!

The "best" hotels (certainly the most expensive) are The Sharrow Bay on Ullswater and The Samling above Windermere. But why not try self catering, but cheat by eating out in good restaurants. Our favourite restaurant is Lucy's on a Plate in Ambleside - bags of atmosphere and really good food (need to book well ahead though as very popular). For the best self catering in Ambleside look at www.rookerycottages.com If you want to do some offroad routes whilst you are there, or even some good on road routes that play to the Disco's strengths, let me know and I'll send a few suggestions.... Accomodation in The Lakes

Anyone taking their wife to the Lakes might try Aprodites Lodge Guest House. Or for that Boutique style of Hotel 21 The Lakes is cool
