Land Rover approved used tyres policy

I am picking up my Discovery tomorrow which is less than 3 years old. I have been told the vehicle has been fitted with 4 new tyres as part of the approved used scheme - great! The not so great part is the dealer has chosen to fit a budget Nexen tyre which I am not over happy with. I would never fit budget tyres by choice when I replace tyres.
I have raised this issue with dealer and they are saying that there is no guidelines to what should be fitted. My argument is they'd not fit non genuine parts on the vehicle so why should tyres be any different.
Unfortunately train ticket is booked and it's very much a seller's market for D4 at the moment.
Your thoughts would be appreciated.

They've fitted them coz the are cheap for them, but there is no such thing as a "genuine part" for tyres. I've seen some weird and wonderful combos on cars sitting in front of dealers, some within spec and lots out of spec. The Nexen are supposed to be pretty rubbish, try and haggle a discount, change them for decent tyres and flog them here or on eBay. Thumbs Up

Perhaps worth pointing out that Nexen aren't a factory fit tyre, might help ?

Had this recently with a 2016 Mini JCW. 3 Dunlops and one Pirelli

Mini recommendation is black and round with a min 3mm tread remaining for its approved used scheme.

That's fine but it somewhat contradicts their own guidance to the owner which recommends a single tread compound for all four tyres from a single tyre manufacturers to avoid unpredictable handling behaviour.

Mini's stance was that they are not responsible for what a previous owner fitted even though it was bought by them and sold on and anyway didn't I check the vehicle before I bought it. Sorry didn't expect mix and match tyres.

Its the hypocritical nature that annoys me.

Agreed, but as it was the Dealership that fitted them, you would have thought they would have fitted the same tyres as it left the factory with ?

I'm pretty sure Land Rover do not list Nexen as one of their approved tyre manufacturers to keep a vehicle in original condition. Running that value of car on budget tyres does not sit comfortable with me.
Recently bought my wife a new car from non franchise dealer and they changed front tyres like for like with no quibble.

Dealership said it was to an Approved standard so Censored

Mini confirmed it was to an Approved standard so Censored

Not worried about the cost of the tyre it was just the principle.

Had Nexens on two audi quattros and they go around corners a lot faster than a disco, I know theres a weight difference between the cars, have you checked the load rating on the Nexens?

Ask the dealership to put in writing that the tyres are up to spec and won't have any future warranty issues with them.

I would say tyres are the least of your worries with approved used.
My one is on its third visit tomorrow to fix stuf. They did not inspect correctly before sale.
I still await a sensible answer from JLR, who actually ensures the process is carried out and not left to end user to get it all fixed under the warranty.
I also have four budget tyres on mine!
