Lanes near Ullswater
Hi off to the lakes at the weekend are there any nice lanes around Ullswater where I can take the Disco without the missus screaming dont go down/up there you'll scratch it Java Black - Alpaca - Auto - HSE - 2006MY

The Old Coach Road which runs from High Row near Dockray, across to Wanthwaite - Grid refs NY 380 219 to NY316 231 is a superb route.
It should be OK at this time of year, but its always best to check with local rights of way office first, and obey any closure signs you see on the entrance. It does have a muddy section in the middle, in which I did once have a bad experience.
On the other hand, it is a superb, long, non damaging green lane with stunning views all the way.

As Gareth has said it's a pleasant drive that should be totally non damaging There is a lot of rain expected over the course of this week including the weekend so I would definitely check withe the local authorities if a TRO is in place.Club Exped trailer

I went over the old coach road last week. The muddy section is about 3 inches deep and while there were some deep puddles at the east end if it they were no trouble at all. Nice gentle drive with great scenery. No signof it being closed on the council website and no signs on either end to suggest so either

The thing about the muddy bit is that in wet weather it can be a real "Dr Foster went to Glocester in a shower of rain" experience. "He stepped in a puddle, that came right up to his middle, and he was never seen again "

Yep I have no doubt! I did the trusty(?) "chuck a rock in every foot and see how far they sink before I drive through" trick and it was ok. But there had only been a few nights of rain last week.
