Laning in Surrey - Big up XTC & NonStickNick
Met up with Richard XTC and Nick NonStickNick for some fun around Surrey 8) .
We had a blast, great fun and good company. Glad I went with people who had the right equipment, ie winches and knowledge. I leant a heck of a lot from those guys today, many thanks for the help and towing me out of trouble
I have one photo to show but Richard will no doubt have more. This is once I had backed up a little. Rear left is about 12" off the ground but it was about 30" at one stage . Was a bit touch and go but we got it out and managed to get out of the lane after going through a small ford and up the other very slippery rutty side. Bounce Bounce Bounce ouch!

That's where I had to get out! . Car wasnt going ANYWHERE so no hassles
Not wanting to sound negative an all that and its great to see you Chaps going off road But you should always close the doors when leaving the vehicle especially when traction is compromised. Your park brake works on the rear wheels one of which is floating in mid air and the other is on mud. If it had rolled back a few feet you would have made the first Gullwing D3 In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Not sure I would want to be under it removing the recovery cover either
Surrey looks tougher than I imagined
Is that one on the next outings route.....I too have side steps....that have survived Salisbury and Boughrood so far end of an era ....... maybe a Defender when it appears.......
They'll be coming off before he heads up there again I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

....I've tried the taking them off an dputting them back on again thing....not doing that again, they stay on and I only go where they fit! end of an era ....... maybe a Defender when it appears.......
Neil,
T'was a pleasure & pleasant suprise @ such short notice to go laning on a Tuesday p.m.
Must do it again while the evenings are still light.
As you can see from the posts so far, there are plenty of experienced guys out there willing to share their wisdom.
It also shows how deceptive pictures can be. As I recall your car was pointing down hill at the time of the picture so any traction loss may have activated the door self closing procedure.
"Too much to learn & so little time"
At least we got the sand mats straight again.
If you were impressed by yesterday then you will be amazed when the going gets properly serious.
Cheers & thanks again.
NickI am a hob nobber.

Not if in sliding down the hill the balance shifted and the car dropped to the NS.
Looking at how easily those sand ladders bent makes me glad I use heavy duty waffle boards I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.
Count me in chaps next time - If I can get enough notice I can take the G4 to wrok and come along in my whistle and flute!Craig
