LED Rear Light unit Failure is it warranty fix |
|
My car is in for a Service and a quarter of the LEDs are not lighting up on a rear tail light, does anybody know if that is covered by Warranty,
I understand that bulbs would be wear and tear but a whole lamp unit seems to be excessive.
Any help would be handy before i pick up the car. LR4 2010 HSE LUX

It's funny how LEDs were heralded as never needing to be changed, MTBF of something daft like 100,000 hours, and yet you hear of quite a few failures like this. And to replace out of warranty will be 20 times what a standard globe would cost

If you have a look at how the D4 led lights are constructed from the rear you'll see the quality isn't brilliant. It's probably not the led that's failed but the connecting wiring. SOLD - 23my Range Rover Sport D300 Dynamic SE

I don't think it's something that is isolated to D4s, my wife's Merc has only half a high level brake light left, and it's only replaceable as a whole unit. And of course it's not what you'd call cheap to replace.......one arm, both legs and a kidney.
