How long would you expect a leisure battery to last?
I take mine off the 'van over the winter and store it in the garage. I took a look at it about 10days ago, had to add a drop of distilled water to all the cells, and then put it on charge.
I've let it rest for a few hours as part of this, but its still only showing as half charged (with my old gravity tester).
Does it sound like its past being pulled back up, or do I persevere. After all, we are always on a mains hookup, so the battery is pretty much in "pass through" mode for the 12v via the on-board charger.

Al the onboard chargers seem to cause the plates to sulphate, if you have a Ctek charger they have a recondition mode that usually sorts them out. DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

how old is the battery, i expect mine to last at least 5-6 year with heavy use all year, with solar cahrging or mains charging, and heavy drain on motor mover use and they seem to do all right in fact last set is till alright after 8 years, i only changed then as putting 2 in parallel on new van and wanted same capacity for both. Mine is about 7 years old, only used over the spring/summer/autumn on occasions (so not all year), and no motormover, so no heavy use.
My charger isnt a Ctek one (not sure who's make it is - inherited from my old man)
Battery is getting very warm (bordering HOT) whilst charging - its only a trickle charger, not a quick boost type charger.
Could do without splashing out on new leisure battery right now - wallets taken a bashing this month.

our caravan battery is now 7 years old and only charged using the caravan charger, and never been removed. we get about 48 hours use out of it for lights, TV(sat) inverter, water pump inc showers Duncan

If it's getting hot on a low charge could well be creamed. Using a Ctek would be the best but they are not cheap. I had a cheap leisure battery which suffered a similar fate and have now changed it for a Banner traction battery at around £190 and the difference is almost unbelievable. I have 4 wheel motor movers on a 1750kgs unladen and this battery is absolutely brilliant just so much grunt.
