BTW I would be having a discussion with the supplying dealer if they supplied it knowing the belts hadn't been done on a D3 of that age as it is not the longer of 7 years or 107,000 miles, its whatever comes first.

And those other prices are crazy!
 Must stop buying shiny toys....

I must admit I’ve used RCV for years and never had any complaints but the last few time’s I’ve contacted them for quotes on jobs their prices have been eye watering. Real shame as I always found them to be quite fairly priced.

Try AHL Engineering in Ulcombe.....excellent garage who will do the job properly and not rip you off...

Just had my G4 done by them.. came back superb!

The prices you have been quoted are very expensive especially as lots of the bits can easily be replaced at the same time...I.e the lower arms, bearings, track rod ends, cv gaiter etc....
Looks like they have quoted them as all individual repairs....which is taking the Censored ....

Having just worked through a similar list I'd say definitely don't give up. Depending on how comfortable you are doing bits yourself, and whether you have anywhere comfortable to do it at this time of year, that could be handled over a couple of weekends (maybe excluding the rear brake pipes).

It may be that you still want to get a garage to take care of the belts and pump (I wouldn't fancy trying to access the rear belt, though it is possible in situ), but you could certainly save yourself a fair chunk of cash.

Hi all thanks for the responses and I will definitely try some other places.

I’ve had a look at some of the repairs such as tie rods and wheel bearing and while they look easy I’m cautious I’ll get half way through and cock it up!

Is there any local member who does a bit of side work and would be willing to help out?

Would feel much better having an experienced hand!

Get a quote from Orchard View Garage in Yalding.

They're not a LR dealer, but they are a great garage to deal with.
