LLAMS in my view is the only way to go - less than Access Height to the equivalent of Extended Height all on the move at the action of just a switch from the drivers position. To each of the standard height selections LLAMS can apply -20mm, +20mm and +50mm so you can have onroad height selected (with no speed restrictions) and LLAMS set at +50 so you end up with a little higher than offroad height with no speed restrictions.

Thanks gents, glad to know there are some kindred spirits out there who don't just accept what the factory dishes up. My car still has 4 yeas under warranty so not keen to mess with the electronics, have ordered the arms easier to hide/swap and should give a similar result for less.

LLAMS is just a plug in module - would take about 5 minutes to remove and return to normal.

<Edit>

I have them fitted to my D4, they are very easy to fit. As they are aluminum they are also stronger than the OE item, I have kept the originals just in case I want to convert back at any point. The front ones are easy to adjust as you can see them, the rears require a bit more work as you either have to work blind over the wheel or get under the car.

<Edit>

All my mods are approved by the insurance company, not worth the risk of no payout in my opinion.

Just looked at the Paddock link & they are (appear to be) the same item.

The main advantage of these over the Johnson Rods is the ability to leave the car in 'standard' mode for most of the time, only upping the ante when you need it.

The various electronic versions already mentioned in this thread also allow this but at extra cost.

You can try www.greenOvalExperience.com/eas_rods.html in Oz, don't know what the postage cost would be though.

So is the britpart and no switches required - I run my D3 at +10mm all the time. takes 5 mins to change when I need more lift.

my Britpart rods arrive in a week, in hindsight the Aussie green oval look better and are cheaper but have family in the UK.
will give some feeedback once fitted.

Ok, I fitted the Brit part rods a few weeks ago.
It took a bit of lube and a flat screw driver to loosen the rubber off the knuckle x 8
Definitly an advantage having the adjustment in the middle and not having to remove an end every time.
I took the back wheel off to fit rear rods but was able to lay under the car to adjust.
Have been driving on road with the suspension raised, no apparant roll even when cornering at 120km/h

Money well spent !

Just so you know, you can now also get a similar locally made in South Africa version for around ZAR500. Do search on 4x4community forum, I seem to remember seeing it there.

Obviously a bit late now for you, but for info to other South Africans.

I needed a tool to read and clear faults - especially when I am not close to Land Rover workshops - so I bought the IID Tool from GAP Diagnostics - for my D3 still. It was upgraded to the D4 lately and I can still use it.

With the added functionality to calibrate the Electronic Air Suspension, lock it for wheel alignment and adjust off-road height in a matter of seconds, it is more than its money worth.

And the best of all, LR don't know that I can do this... Thumbs Up

Cheers

Local J-rods

Hi Guys

I fitted the local modified j-rods a couple of weeks ago.
R750,00 for a set of 4, manufactured from stainless steel with purpose cast rubber grommets to fit.

Use a golf "divot" tool (metal one) for easy removal of the old ones.

The new rods give a permanent 50 mm lift over standard ride height. I need this for sand driving as above 45 km/h the car lowers automatically into "normal" ride height which is too low for the terrain I traverse - heavy middelmannetjies etc.

Works fantastic, just remember to get wheel alignment adjusted accordingly.

Hi Chris
The IID-tool sounds interesting but on the website from GAP Diagnostics the status for the D4-development is "In Progress" for every feature.
If I got you right, the IID works perfect with your D4, doesn't it?
Greetings from sunny Switzerland

AFAIK, IIDTool for Disco/LR4 and 2010+ RRS has only been available to beta testers up to now. The final version should be pretty much ready though, available through Britpart in the next 3-4 weeks probably. Lots of exciting new features (including a Bluetooth option!) will make it worth the wait, although probably more expensive than the Disco/LR3 version available now.
