Love the look of the Lightbar in the grill. How did you bolt it on? Was it on to the frame behind the grill or to the grill itself? Thank you and Merry Christmas

I bought it like this on this forum,it is attached to the grill with no other frame/bracket.
Tomorrow I will take it off as it is just attached like any other front grill and I will take some pictures for you ,it's straight forward really just a bit of cutting of the grill and I had to cut some of the alluminum framework behind the grill to make it fit.
I also used a quick in-line wire plug for easy removal and also have wired it to my main beam.
Will send you the pictures on the forum tomorrow,
I must add the work wasn't done by myself but a forum member who I have forgotten at the moment.
Regards

That’s great, thank you so much. I’ve got the light bar already and saw your post and thought it looks great. It came with a loom with a switch but I’ll probably do the same as you and wire it into the main beam. I’ll look forward to seeing the pictures. Thanks again.

Apropos Lazer… I “pre-got” for Xmas a Linear 18 Elite bar that I was thinking on mounting in the air intake above the license plate. There isn’t much space, for the mounting itself, so perhaps I should have figured another place to install them to
I’ll post pictures when I get around (= permission ) to spend time tinkering with the bar.

Captivated nuts on the roof works well see my previous pictures but it's no use if you plan on driving motorway style as to the horrendous wind noise, great for county lanes and off road.
I just plugged the nuts when I removed the light bar.
Will post pictures tomorrow.

On your V8 no problem, but a no go area for the diesel owners.. since you block the intercooler then..Best regards

Yes, indeed I’ll see if I can get it to fit. An acquaintance installed a light bar in the same place on his L322 using Wurth’s Power Tack and said it was extremely solid for years, no vibration or instability either.

Hi
Copy click on the link to see the pictures of light bar fitting from behind also two pictures of the roof captivated nuts now sealed off.
The picture with my finger pointing to the black strip,I fitted that to conceal a gap between the grill and light bar.
It is a right-angled piece of plastic wall//cabinet knock protection.

Forgot to add the pictures in the link show where I had to grind off some aluminium structure so as to fit the light, this may not be needed on other D3s obviously you purchase a shorter light you would not encounter this problem.

Talking of lightbars, I've just fitted a Stedi ST1K to my facelift D4. It's a more budget option compared to the offerings from Lazer et al. and I'm pleased with the build quality and light output.
I fitted it behind the grill so it's quite a stealthy option. You can see the light bar peeking out of the lowest gap in the grille. The grille does not restrict the light output.

There's a comparison of various lightbars here - https://www.cabcom.co.uk/blog - and I bought my bar from that company - Cabcom
The lightbar was £200 including a wiring loom and all fittings needed.D1 300Tdi - gone
D2 Td5 ES (Alive remapped...mmm) - sadly gone
D4 2012 SDV6 XS - Stolen
D4 2014 SDV6 HSE - Shiny

That’s a very neat instalment.
