Limited slip diff
Am I right in thinking my 2009 D4 had a limited slip diff on the rear axle but this is not longer fitted on the 2016 model?
The old one had a padlock symbol for centre diff and read axle, but the new one does not have one on the axle image.
Offroad yesterday adding revs to 2000 rpm did not make both back wheels drive.2016 D4 Landmark SDV6 (Euro6), Zanzibar (late run D4)

It was an option on your old car, but the Landmark didn't even have it as an option (for some inexplicable reason )

I thought that what was an option was a manually lockable rear diff, and that continues up until recently but as you say, was not available by the time my car was spec'd.
But that the limited slip diff on the rear would still be there. I always regretted not getting the lockable rear diff on the old motor just because of the extra agression of 2000 rpm that was needed to get the limited slip diff to engage.
I'm pretty peeved to now learn that this car doesn't even have that. It was something I didn't think to check, that they might have made it LESS capable. Not that there would have been much I could have done about it I suppose. 2016 D4 Landmark SDV6 (Euro6), Zanzibar (late run D4)

The Active diff is probably what I am referring to as manual.
I seem to remember reading that it is because the Landmark has rear seat telly that there are no addresses left on the bus for the active diff. I know which I would have rather had, given the choice - which I was not!2016 D4 Landmark SDV6 (Euro6), Zanzibar (late run D4)

That might be it as I've only just checked and it wasn't an option on the HSE Lux before it either

What is shown in the display with regard to padlock symbols has changed over the years so don't read that as what might or might not be fitted. Very very few D4s were ever specified with the active rear differential. Unless you specifically ordered your previous one with it fitted, I suspect your current one is exactly the same as the previous one.
Edit, I remember. Early D4s showed a green padlock at the rear, it meant nothing because unless the active rear differential was fitted it could never change to red, so it was a green padlock that never changed colour, pointless. On later models the padlock doesn't appear at all unless the active diff is fitted and then of course it can be green or red. So no change at all in functionality regarding the rear diff between model years.

Thanks discoteca that fits with the symbols I had and makes sense ref the active diff option.
But I'm not convinced the limited slip diff has remained. With the old D4 it was very noticeable that when traction was lost and I wasn't moving, if I revved up to 1800 rpm the limited slip diff would engage and both back wheels would drive together. Very useful!
This did not happen at the weekend when I tried it in the new D4. Break out the tow rope 2016 D4 Landmark SDV6 (Euro6), Zanzibar (late run D4)

Even without the active locking rear diff, the traction control should apply the brake on the spinning wheel to transfer some drive to the other.
The problem you get is that it needs a bit of oomph on the accelerator to make it work well, and if there is actually no grip, it can't alter the laws of physics.
