Little Niggles 2: Unlocking passenger and rear doors

I keep opening my disco with one press of the key, starting the car and then realising I need to put something in the rear of the car.

Is there a way to unlock the rear doors once the key is in position 2 or 3 without switching off the engine?

Or alternatively is there a way to unlock the whole car with just one press of the button?

Do you not have the lock/unlock buttons above the radio next to the hazard light switch?

Hi Jumblemo. I regularly get caught with the locked passenger/boot door scenario. I just press the unlock button on the dash. This works no matter what the key position.

My steering wheel was set to the right of centre when I got it. I had it corrected, and it was then to the left. Third time lucky it now seems OK, although sometimes I do feel that the car pulls to the left slightly. This could be the road camber though.

Pressing the button on the dash sounds like "a good idea". I'll try it Wink

You can also change the settings so that a single press of the key unlocks all the doors. In the manual it says if you keep the lock and unlock button pressed simultaneously for 3 seconds this set the system to do what you want. I haven't tried this myself as I like the single door unlock so I can't say for sure but that's what the manual says... Laughing

I think Ive Got It.....

As the Disco is so clever with all its electronics, why cant it 'sense' when I need the back door unlocked [In the rain] so that I jump out of the drivers side and it automatically unlocks the door I go to....

I think this would be good because of this recent incident.....

I know you can press the 'unlock' button in the middle of the dash, but that involves my intelligence of remembering its there..... before I get out [in the rain] to find the doors locked, and everybodys looking at me getting wet, proberly thinking 'Bloody 4x4 Drivers dont even know how to unlock their own car' Very Happy

So then I get water in the front with me dripping wet all over my lovely seats, only to find the item i wanted I did not put in the back anyway, becuase I left it at home!!

So I drove back home (wasting diesel!) but still having fun, and decided that was it for the day and settled down to a nice few beers.

The End.
