I'm going to Maplin's tomorrow to see how good the stuff they have looks. Much cheaper and see-before-you-pay.

And having seen I don't think it is up to it - in fact, rather unsightly and no protection to the LEDs. Better buy is £10 out of Halfords, comes in a sleeve with with a switch, connecting wire, and a cigar lighter plug.

Inspired by this forum thread, I installed the same 121 led lamp (about two feet long) to the boot, and also added one 61 led lamp (about 1 foot long) to each of the four doors. Now I have proper light also e.g. at rear footwell as well as better light outside the door when one is opened.

In the latter picture you can see also the original yellowish front footwell lamp for comparison -- this new led lamp is supposed to consume about 4W and gives so much light compared to the standard 5W traditional bulb.

These new door lamps I connected in parallel to the ground lights located in the bottom of each door, but removed the old bulbs so that I am not stressing the power system more than originally.

Just ordered one of these strip lights for £49 of a certain auction site and thought I'd resurrect this thread as the shorter days are around the corner.

I was considering 2x 300mm vertically on the rear pillars instead of the 1x 600mm. But I just couldn't be Censored running extra cables etc. I may decide to do that in SWMBO though because we have the dog crate in there and so the top light get blocked by the crate roof.
