Locking OzTent to an Expo Rack?

Hey knowledgable geezers,

I use an expo rack that has been chopped I.e. does not have the upper level and fairing. It's ace in this form actually.

I would like to be able to lock my oztent RV5 to the bars when leaving it at restaurants, ferry, parking etc. I feel a cable or chain would be easily overcome by simply releasing the rachets and pulling the tent from one end to avoid the cable or chain.

Any ideas please guys Thumbs Up there is an "ozbox" for Aussies but i beleive that it sells at £600+ so they needn't bother importing that Laughing

I use the Expo rack lashing eyes on the LR roof cross bars (don't usually use the expo rack), and use a bike cable lock (one of those with an integral padlock - think it a 'federal') through the eyes. The Oz can't be pulled forward or back, as the cable lock is a fairly tight fit.
(Usually just strap it on with a pair of cam straps though)

I realise that a photo would be far more use here, but i don't have one to hand Laughing Long succession of Disco's since 2001...
SIII Lightweight - neglected & rusting. Bulkhead, A panels, vent panel & outriggers now disintegrated - Next years project!

Cheers, Yeah, I use lashing eyes, I think that you are on the nail with what you say and with some playing about I would no doubt find a tight fit.

I was about to mention that expo racks are not flat front to back which puts me in fear of bending my tent in its so rigid form packed if it were really tightly secured (normally use bungees when security is not an issue too) then thought I could use a shim on a rail at one end to level it all out.

I have a slight idea similar to those things we all use to hold books upright on the bookcase, one at each end and lockable.
