Locking tyre valve caps - thwarting climate change activists

Has anyone any experience on the locking valve caps you can get on EBay and the like?

It appears the climate change activists are increasing their activity in letting down tyres on SUVs and 4x4s.

The locking caps look like they have small grub screws (or similar) preventing simple unscrewing by hand.

Looking to see whether prevention might work?

Wondering whether the valves will just get knackered as they try harder..

I had locking wheel nuts on my D2, replaced them with normal ones after 6 months due to them corroding and not undoing easily. I always check the trye pressures weekly so they didn't take long to corrode. I could see a visit to the tyre dealers coming soon as before I removed them undoing them nearly twisted the valve stem!

I wouldn't touch them again! Thumbs Up

Car tyre sidewalls are not designed to bear the weight of a car whilst deflated, particularly not an SUV so the tyres will be damaged, and the offenders can be charged with criminal damage.

Charges can even be brought against a person based on them preparing to commit criminal damage, even when no damage has actually been caused.

I thought they had a spanner like key ring to tighten them (decades ago)

Be sure to apply grease before fitting as they would corrode on otherwise!

^+1

Ended up driving SWMBO's car to kwikfit to get a new valve when a tyre had gone a bit soft and after 1/2 hour with a dremel I gave up before I damaged the alloy.

Fingers crossed these idiots get caught and the book is thrown at them , dread to think how many hours the police & CPS have to waste in order to bring these morons to justice

I doubt they will be caught and even if they did it would just be a slap on the wrist and they would be free to carry in. The idiots even let down the tyres on an EV.

Hi Al

Plus 1, unless of course a member of the public caught one of them , even so if they were put before a judge I bet they wouldn’t be forced to pay for damages to the owners tyres

Also couldn’t get my head round that regarding letting EV tyres down, plus because of there actions may cause a serious accident or even a death if a tyre came off it’s rim at speed

Them demanding a free transport service is laughable as who the hell is going to pay for it , just feel they wouldn’t be happy unless we were sent back to the Stone Age

Bet they don’t do what they preach in stop using oil products
