Locking up with dog in D3

I have a Lintran box in the back would be great if I could lock the box and vehicle just with tailgate upper open.

Cargo barrier and dog separator is what I have.

But to be honest, if it was warm enough to need to leave the tailgate open while the dog was in the car, I wouldn't leave my dog in the car. Thumbs Up 2014 D4 XS

I would not even take the dog out in the car this weather unless essential.

I don't like leaving him in the car but last resort would be with the tailgate open if I can get lower section to lock. Defender 300Tdi 110 HCP - Keswick Green

Have you tried flicking the latch in so it thinks the tailgate upper is shut?

I just tried mine and it worked fine, you just need to get used to flicking the latch out while pushing the release.

I'm impressed the car disables the lower lock when the top hatch is shut.
