If taxed as a light commercial then the car tax system (with a few exceptions for some older Euro 4 and 5 vehicles) does not use emissions as a means to determine the rate of VED as they use a one size fits all approach which the CC system also uses. This can work in your favour if you have an older D3 which would otherwise be over £500 a year but is only £265 if it is taxed as a LGV
Sadly the euro 6 D4 VED is still £330 Big Cry

In my case I might have found an issue.

My current registration number used to reside on my truck, but the information on the tfl website has it down as a Land Rover Commercial, however, if I put in the Discos original number, it comes up as having to pay only £12.50, but doesn't state what the vehicle is.

I'm more confused.com now.

Going to register the vehicle and challenge the rate of charge, at least it can't increase.

Living in SW15 we are already in the LEZ and only a mile from the coming ULEZ. It is possible to drive to Victoria Stn/Coach without entering the congestion zone by crossing just Putney Bridge and skirting the river. Cross any other bridge and you are in the zone. As for euro 6, thought long and hard about updating from my D4 2014 to a later one but came to my senses when I realised that the additional cost would never be repaid and the car has been truly superb.
Westminster surcharges for parking any diesels, other boroughs will follow. Euro 6 is OK for now in London but the anti-diesel lobby is gaining strength so who knows for how long.
I do drive into London regularly and I want to keep my Disco. My solution:

ULEZ proof, one owner, fsh 12000m. £30ved. Looked for this model (450) specifically as it is 6” shorter than 2007 onwards and has the fabulous Merc 3cyl 700cc 6plug motor. Later stuff is Mitsubishi. Got it just in time as prices are rising for good unthrashed ones.
Beware if you have to contact TFL. My 1972 S3 Lightweight should be ULEZ exempt, it was registered in 1982 with a K plate. No way to contact them just now so I’ll wait to be taken to court.
The pleasures of living in London🙄🙄

I predict "interesting times" for residents of Batheaston by the toll bridge, as it bypasses the clean air zone Whistle
I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

The Government have said that the introduction of clean air zones (CAZs) is to be delayed until the Government overcomes the COVID-19 pandemic.

Source:- https://www.fleetnews.co.uk/fleet-faq/what...-zones-caz

I don't think they have defined "overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic" - but I suppose we might be spared further CAZs for some months.

The link above has some useful information about what's proposed at a number of cities in addition to Bath & Birmingham.

There is also a very useful interactive map here:- https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=1...52&z=8

The TFL system doesn’t deal with plate transfers very well, we bought a ULEZ complaint BMW I checked the car we bought on their system before purchase as at the time we were travelling in a lot and it was all complaint, when I then transferred the plate from my wife’s 2010 D4 the TFL system knew the plate was now on a BMW but showed it as no complaint for ULEZ.

We had to contact TFL and send them data from the V5 and the they corrected their data.

Thats odd! My wife`s Euro 5 Mazda which has the £12:50p charge for London is no charge for the other 2 sites. My Euro 6 D4 is no charge on all 3 sites!

It depends if its a high polluting euro 6... the Disco 4 is considered to be high in the Ulez chart, hence the daily charge

Where did you get this from? Surely EU6 is EU6. Just checked the tfl site linked earlier in the thread and my 16 plate is recognised correctly and the site states: No ULEZ charge due for this vehicle.

Now I'm more confused?

My 16 plate Commerical KM16UPN is reporting that it costs £12.50 - is that wrong?

KM16UPN Blue LAND ROVER DISCOVERY SE SDV6 AUTO
ULEZ charge applies to this vehicle

Daily charge: £12.50

Commercial, under 3.5t did not have to be Euro 6 compliant till September 2016 we delayed changing one of ours because of it. £12.50 is correct as it’s below 3.5t. Above 3.5t it’s £100.

So, asked TfL to explain why the same vehicle on it's original plate was £12.50, and on it's new plate £100, and as you can see, no intelligent answer, just that their system will be changed to reflect either registration will be £100.
