Over the last few weeks ive started loosing coolant - ive done 105k miles and until i got to 102k never had to top the collant up.
I seem to be going from a full expansion tank to a "low coolant" warning in about 1500 miles..
The faultmate isnt reporting any fault codes and i cant see any signs of leakage on the drive, nor is the exhaust showing any tell tale signs. Although its a bit difficlut to check at the moment because it doesnt seem to have stopped raining for the last 3 weeks !!!
Ive search the site and there seems to be two possibilities I can see : 1) oil cooler problem or 2) EGR cooler problem.
if this was the problem would the car report a fault code, if not, how can i test for leakage. Or are there other possible causes i can check for othe than the obvious - ie radiator leaking or connecting pipes leaking
i checked the obvious places Duncan

I don't think a fault code will come up unless the leak affects something else. I reckon it could be difficult to find as it is obvisously quite a small leak.
I hope you find it though.

Split or loose pipe ?
Mine did this some time ago zooming up the M40 and sprayed coolant all over the engine .... smelt like fuel and was causing me headache and drowsiness.
Get it checked out quick.
If it does go like mine, you may find the engine won't like it at all I was lucky by all accounts

I had suffered the same issue recently which led to all sort of power delivery problems.
Unfortunately my Low Coolant warning message didn't come on, so never thought to check.
Even LR Dealer missed it when I put it in for diagnosis
Forum members Faultmate subsequently showed it'd been de-activated.
Anyway, 2nd time in LR dealer, they diagnosed it was the left bank EGR cooler [& EGR valve - which is blanked off !!!!]
[it doesn't need an egr valve if they're blocked off ]
Because of that, I didn't have faith in the dealer, so got the parts from TLO and booked into local garage.
However upon stripping it was noted that it wasn't the EGR Cooler, after all but the Oil Cooler.
Oil cooler ordered, fitted [along with new egr cooler, as I'd already bought it] and no problems since.
Good luck on your fix Duncan

As TawnyOwl said - get it pressure tested. On a previous vehicle I found it was losing coolant but with no other telltales. Turned out to be a very, very small split in the hose. Coolant was leaking when hot and was vapourising. Hence no dripping fluid etc.
This was discovered after the engine overheated in 35c on the way to Holland with a weeks worth of food for 26 Scouts in the back...and the engine needed replacing... The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...
Club "yes, I too have had the EGR's replaced..."
Club "yes, I too have had the compressor replaced..."
Club "yes, I too once had the car at the dealer for a couple of weeks nearly 4 weeks over 4 weeks...5 weeks"
Club "yes, I too have had EPB failure..."
Club "yes, I too get mysterious bings and bongs..."

Don't really know
All I do know is that it's deep in the heart of the engine bay.
Somewhere that involves an awfull lot of stripping down. I was a normal heterosexual chap, but in these new woke awakenings I now identify as a Wardrobe.

Thanks.
cars just got back from having the brake servo safety recall : what a bodge.... but thats a different story. Whilst in, the dealer tested for coolant loss. They pressure tested, tested EGR cooling, block tested, and lots of other stuff but couldnt find a leak. Strange... but true.
They filled it up and I'll just have to keep an eye on it. If it continues to loose coolant then they will "rip it bits"
similar thing happened with steering fluid a while back . It kept dropping down to minimum and i kept filling it up then suddenly.... no loss, and its been fine for months Weird !! Duncan
