Losing un-read new posts

OK this is whats happening.

I log on click new posts, I then select a post I want to read. I then have to do some work, so I log off not having read all the new posts. Then when I have a few free minutes I log on again click new posts and they have all gone Shocked Big Cry . This has just started to happen since I changed my time zone thing. Whats wrong in my settings Question

mine has always done that, lose them all everytime you log off or it logs you off......I assumed it was the norm, bit of a pain if you haven't logged on for a few days though Neutral

trick is I think not too work...... Thumbs Up

I get the same thing and have a solution.

I use a tabbed browser (firefox) and open each thread in a new window. That way the search is frozen and I can follow all the links.

I often open all the interesting ones in different tabs and close them over the course of the day as I get 2 minutes and read them.

Oh before the above mentioned started to happen.

If I never read a thread that had a new post in it. It would always show each time I logged on as a new post. and remain there until I got round to reading it.

It's a mixture of the normal way phpBB works, and some quirks/bugs in the way it works such that it randomly drops all your new posts for no good reason. There isn't a fix unfortunately Sad

But it is the reason that the latest posts by hours search is in place, as it won't drop posts by itself. I often use this first thing in the morning (by clicking 12h) and I know it'll give me all the posts made overnight, and will do its best to highlight the new ones Smile

Just enable the stay logged in button. As long as you don't quit the browser you should go back to the recent posts list and see where you last were list wise.

Else go to the home page and hit the 1h, 2h etc link at the bottom to force the site to show you all posts since that particular time.

I always stay logged in and have bookmarked the latest posts page and use this to bounce back rather than the back button (use this too sometimes).

Seems to work OK and only very very occasionally do I loose the list of recent post not read.

For viewing a post of the New Posts screen, always Right click on the post and select Open In New Window

This is what I do now click the 6hr or 12hr but that is not the point. I want every new post to stay in MY new posts until I have read it. Regardless of the fact that I have logged on or off in or out, I don't want to open other windows or tabs. I'm going back to British winter time to see if this makes a difference Big Cry Big Cry

Changing back to winter time made no difference, I just logged out with loads of new unread posts logged back in and they had all gone Censored Censored Censored Censored

It's the log in/log out which does it - plus phpBB being tempremental.
