Lousy clock

Of the two things in my D3 which have disappointed me so far, one (I'll moan about the other another time Wink ) is the clock. I find the green on black on the radio display virtually impossible to read, at least without taking my attention off the road. It may not seem so bad in a right-hand drive car, where the driver is nearer the top right of the display, but with left-hand drive it is horrible (must try whether it is more legible from the passenger seat).

Annoying too is the fact that the rev counter looks as though it was designed to have a clock in it at the bottom. Does anyone know what that display was intended for? Or does it actually do anything? I haven't found a use for it.

Another possibility would be to display the time on the navigation system. Is there any way of doing that?

Eric

Thud I agree the clock could of been better placed, another one in the display infront of the driver would have been ideal. My other gripe about the clock is that it disappears altogether when on the phone.

The first thing I asked my dealer was
Q "Can the clock be put on the dash"
A "No"

The second question was
Q "Ok then can you make it so the clock stays on when on the phone"
A "No"

So now I have got a clock on the dash that also displays dangerous places, called a Snooper clock.
In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Hi espri, I could not agree with you more, that clock is not only a bad design but is down right dangerous, we are on the other side and the clock is just as useless.

There are only a couple of things that we are not pleased about with our D3 but the clock is absolutely at the top of the list.

In Australia, the areas around schools have special lower speed limits that apply at the beginning and end of school hours, called School Zones.

These School Zones require the drivers to reduce their speed, from whatever the normal speed is for the section of road you are on, down to 40 KPH but this is only during specific times, which are posted at the beginning of each zone and these time vary from one school to the next.

So we need to have a decent clock that is easy and more importantly SAFE to read.

The D3 is my wife's vehicle and the clock was such a problem that we have now fitted a elcheapo LCD clock.

My sunglasses are polarised (we do have the sun now and again!) this makes the clock a black blob because of the angle, great Rolling Eyes

a small off topic ..but still bit annoyed.
while in offroad mode with air suspencion up, make the external
temperature dissappeared. if u doing an offroad weekend and start
u will hv no idea abt temperature while crossing mountains and with
changing weather conditions (maybe we hv to lower car to see temperature
and up again...) Rolling Eyes

I had still vaguely hoped that it might be possible to use the lower part of the rev counter display for a clock. However, now I see that things like the HDC icon appear there when needed. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

Maybe the clock could be included in the display in the centre of the dashboard (when available). It seems to me that the top left-hand side of that (along from the temperature) is hardly used. A clock there would be right in front of the driver's eyes.
