faulty injector or wiring loom

Thanks aja4x4,

Is there any way to test as the injector or the loom as the injector is a Censored to remove (having done it once)?

I do have another Disco which I could nick an injector out of just to plug in instead of the possible faulty one to see if the engine will fire up when plugged in?

Not sure if that's possible??

Let me know if you can and thanks again for all the comments i've had so far.

This really is a great site!!

Yes you can check continuity from the loom to the plug on the eco, im sure Gstuart will pop a link to the right wiring diagram he's very good at doing that.

If you swap an injector make sure its the right type euro 3 or euro 4 depending on the year you have

faulty injector or wiring loom

Thanks again Aja4x4!!

I have Worth online world which shows me which ecu pins to try so I think I can manage that (fingers crossed)

I assume if the wiring is OK, it cant really be anything other than the injector Rolling Eyes

Wont be looking forward to removing that again Crying or Very sad but at least when I put it back I have cleaned the crud of it and added some aluminium grease so it should be a little easier to come out.

TBH if its the injector I will just go and get a replacement, so Ill make sure its the correct one but thanks for the warning!

Ill let you know how I get on but until then many thanks!!

James

Have you also inspected the PCM for water ingress, I had a similar problem on a RRS and water had got in to the ecu causing the problem.

Flack Thumbs Up

Thanks Flack,

I have seen water near the LHS of the sunroof before and had assumed it was the drainage channels but checked that yesterday and it seems to be OK and there doesn't seem to be any leaks further down on the fuse board etc, so not really sure where that might be coming from.

No the modules all look fine and pretty dry. I took aja4x4's advice and checked the loom back to the ecu for continuity and it checks out OK so the only thing I can think must be the injector.

Before I remove it I was just wondering if its possible to plug a good injector onto where the faulty one is temporarily, just to see if the car will start. I assume it would need to be earthed but not sure if this would do any damage? It would just be better to know that it is definitely a faulty injector before I have to remove it again Big Cry

Let me have your thoughts

Thanks, James

P.S. If I do have to swap it again I will post some pictures of the process and some small tricks I found to get round some of the tight corners you have to get into!!

Faulty injector

Hi all,

Just to let you know that all has been resolved (until the next problem) Laughing

At the end it was a faulty injector. The one I have removed and cleaned and re-seated as it was blowing.

I am not sure if it was me removing it or it had been on its way out in the first place but I decided that because its not easy to remove, I would buy a new injector.

Car fired up straight away and iv'e cleared the codes and all seems to be well Thumbs Up

Thanks again for all the help I received!!

I didn't do the images of the replacement simply because I didn't have time but if anyone needs any help in this regard, just send me a message.
