Low ratio

Just wondering if on a D3 the Low Ratio needs to be selected on a monthly/regular basis like on a D2 use it or lose it?

Guessing as well to try running on it on any potential purchase.

I'm not aware of any issues from those that don't, but it wouldn't do any harm to excersise the components.

I did, just to have a better chance of it being available when you do need it!

I’d often use low ratio when I’ve a trailer on especially for reversing and then starting out in low box. I know I probably (definitely) shouldn’t but with a heavy load I’d start in low box and then change up to hi box on the move Whistle

I had the opposite problem, I was worried about Waring the transfer motor out as I'm in and out of low box minimum twice a day. Seems to have lasted 90k alright though.

I was wondering if you can change low to high on the move, so I read the handbook! It seems its perfectly acceptable to change low to high at speeds up to 38mph!, and high to low no faster than 2mph.

Changing up from lo to high box on the hoof is piece of cake, just needs a bit of practise. Done it dozens and dozens and dozens of times, along with dropping to normal height. Piece of cake and safer than stopping at the side of the road. Thumbs Up
