Lower front ball joint

Took D3 to local independent told lower front ball joint needs replacing but spoke to another who recommend replacing complete arm. The second has not seen it yet. What is the general thoughts on best way to go?

I replaced just the balljoint on mine after an advisory on mot, benefit being it’s done in situ so no alignment issue afterwards

Arms come complete with lower ball joints, its usual to change arms in pairs, if the rear bushes on the arms are good its pointless changing them, some body's making a mountain out of a molehill that he hasn't even seen them. It is impossible to tell if arms want changing without inspection or testing, to test travel at walking speed and dab the brakes on, if you get a bump rear bushes highly likely need changing, although it could be anti-roll bar bushes, no bump they don't.
Bottom swivel joint £30 ish, two lower wishbones £200 ish plus fitting plus four wheel alignment = big bill Big Cry

How do you get the bottom ball joint out in situ. Is there a tool or is it a big hammer

There’s a circlip holding it into the arm, remove that , and I used a large clamp to press it out using sockets as spacers

Do site search, there are plenty of guides with photos, may even be one in the wiki at top of home page Thumbs Up it only pushes out, no need to take the arm off or 4 wheel alignment if you’re careful and take measurements, ISTR there is modified heavy duty aka RRS swivel available for a few pence more.
