After referring to a few threads on here and identifying a 'suspect' lower steering column. Today I fitted a new one,
the steering was amazing for about 30 minutes.
Then - HDC fault, parking brake fault and the car is sitting in access height.
If I go out and start her it's a lottery as to what happens, one time nothing and she's good, next time the dash looks prettier than our Christmas tree, then it all goes out, then the suspension errors, then it doesn't.
I realise that's not really anything to tempt anyone in to hazarding a guess as to my issue
The battery is 100%, the alternator is putting out a good charge, the brake light bulbs are ok, but I have ordered a new brake switch (just in case).
Am i forgetting anything?
Anyone in the Rugby area with a fault code reader?

You need to straighten the front wheels then recalibrate the steering angle sensor.
Is the steering wheel out of alignment now too? Mods:

Hi,
Thanks for this. However I didn't move the steering column/wheel during the replace.
Also, the wheel is pointing in exactly the same direction as it was before I started, as are the wheels.
That said, I'm game ....... is there a 'how too'? www.ratsnruins.co.uk

A how to for recalibrating the steering angle sensor...... or is an IID tool required? (hope not)
Also (sorry, more questions) if the sensor was 'outta whack' so to speak wouldn't i get these errors all the time and not on annoyingly intermittent occasions? www.ratsnruins.co.uk

You need an IID tool or similar.
Does sound like battery too however. Mods:

Ok, thanks for your time and expertise.
For the record the battery is brand new and only 3 days old. Old one was 5 years old and apparently winter is coming www.ratsnruins.co.uk

If you had the doors open, keys in ignition etc. during your lower steering column swap it just might be very low on charge and causing the errors to pop up.
Try charging it over night, see how you get on. Mods:

I'm in Rugby chap. About to depart for Stratford though to meet up with a kind soul who has offered to resolve my issue.
Really appreciate your offer though, thank you. www.ratsnruins.co.uk
