I'd agree with looking around over the country... I'm Essex based, and looked at one at a local dealer in Chelmsford, but ending up buying mine from Hunters in Chester. Cheaper, much lower miles, and better spec. In fact, most of my cars that I've bought over the past 20 years have been from different parts of the country... the savings can be huge.

And definitely don't bother with surround cameras.... next to useless

Thanks Andy,

Chester is close to my family home, so I’ll have a look and see what they can do up there.

What are people’s thoughts on the step boards? I’ve got kids and am thinking it makes sense, but might be a bit of a drawback...

Thanks again!

The side steps are very Marmite and there’s no right answer.

But, I love them for ease of getting in and out, especially with elderly relatives, they keep the mud off the side of the car, make it much easier to step over mud around the car, easier to load a roof box and if you raise the suspension, make it much more difficult for generic cars to dent your doors in car parks. If you’ve got roof rails, people with very muddy boots can even ride on the outside of the car across fields (yes, there are circumstances where even that can be helpful! 😁)

Oh, they also stop mud from getting past the bottom outer seal of the door.

I’m sold on them from that post alone.

Not sure the police will allow me to force the kids to stay on the outside of the car down the A3 though... Laughing Laughing

I have the stepboards on my D4, make it very easy for children to get in - my 2 year old could climb up them, in to the footwell and on to her seat unassisted, other than opening the door for her!

Sure they look like the wings off a 747. But they do what's needed Thumbs Up

If the kids have got filthy wellies on, the police ought to be understanding 🙄😁

I had LR side steps on my previous D4 but went for Prospeed rock and tree sliders for my new one. Given the choice I would choose the Prospeeds every time. They protect the whole of the sill, don't need any cutting of the plastic sill covers and are very solid. They are also cheaper than buying genuine LR side steps.

Thumbs Up

p.s. plus they look very 8)

Just had a look- they look nice.

Depending on what I end up with, I may opt for them if I don’t have something on already...
