Starting problem

My D3 starts immediately I turn the key however it will stop again just as immediately if I don’t catch it on the throttle, this is only when cold, when warm it’s fine. Other than this it runs really well 😜👍🏻 I wired up the fbh (just temporarily under the bonnet) at the weekend si I’ll see if this makes a difference, just seems there must be something wrong cos all the diesels I’ve had before start and run without any throttle input?

Any thoughts😳🤬

What does the temp gauge read?- could be the water or oil temp sender has failed and telling the system the engine is warmer than it actually is and not feeding enough fuel to keep a cold engine running.

It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Outside temp is ok, engine temp gauge shows stone cold, so I think that’s ok, like I said it starts immediately but unless you ‘catch’ it on the throttle it will cut out straight away. Just don’t want this to become a bigger problem Sad

Could be the oil/water temp sender telling the system the oil/water temp is hotter than it is, this reduces the amount of fuel injected into the cylinders causing the engine to stall, think of the choke on a vintage petrol engine. Only a few pounds to change both and eliminate them from the equation. Thumbs Up
