Lynx diagnostics tool vs IID tool
Hi,
I was just wondering anybody has used the Britpart Lynx diagnostic tool for the Disco 3?
I'm trying to compare to the IID tool, it's half the price, says it can program keys and seems to be able to test or maintain most actuators. I'm wondering if it's worth paying twice the price for an IID tool Bluetooth?

What back up do you get with the lynx software as you get full backup with the IDD tool from gap that should be enough to justify the price difference Discovery 3 se gone

Cheers guys,
I'm still curious whether this would have been enough for me (It can read and clear fault codes, program a key, reset the service light, and maintain parts of the car like EPB), but couldn't get enough info or reviews on it to commit trying it, so went for the well tested IID tool
I can only comment on the iid tool and based on my own experience i have never had such good customer support for a product ever, Pat and the Gap boys are constantly updating this little box of tricks with the help of BETA users the recent upgrade to guided suspension calibration is just one upgrade that has made owning the D3 a dream well worth the extra cash for a long term tool that if you sell the D3 it will hold its valueRange Rover Westminster 4.4 TDV8 what a car

I've been looking at the new Lynx EVO with the BT dongle and IOS/Andriod app, for the price it seems unbeatable. For around £300 it claims to read and program most things that break or go out of calibration. Apart from the normal read and reset I was interested in suspension level calibration and reading the injector offset levels.
On the forum the IID is the popular choice but at £399+vat for the base tool it's quite a bit more. Especially as it seem you need the EAScontrol, at £185+vat, to calibrate the suspension height. That's over £700 all in unless I have got it wrong.
Can someone also please confirm if IDD is VIN locked to 1 vehicle to make changes but reads and clears codes on all Land Rover model.
The Lynx EVO states is reads, resets and changes settings for cars in a specific Land Rover family, i.e. Discovery 1, 2, 3, and 4.

And not forgetting the second to none support offered by IID, when I got mine, there were no Petrol V8 specific live values, within 24 hrs of asking I had them, I doubt anyone else would do that.==================================

Thanks for the quick reply and confirmation. Seemed a bit odd why the EAS was a standalone unit as setting the suspension is not done that often, and if you had the IID tool it's included anyway. I suppose the market is for someone with a read and clear tool currently.
Looking at the price this is a great deal, especially if you wanted a BAS remap. The difference of the remap with and without the IID is £234. Taking that away from £480 for the IID means you get the IID for £246 in theory.
Well worth considering.

Remap included with the IID?
I think you may have mis read, the IID is capable of delivering / applying a BAS remap. It doesn't come with a remap included.

Iid tool vs The rest= no contest!
Iid tool outright winner It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Yep understand that.
BAS remote remap if you don't have an IID is £654
BAS remote remap if you do have an IID is £420
So by having the IID you save £234 on a remap from BAS
If you take remap saving of £234 away from the initial £480 list cost inc VAT of the IID tool, in real money the IID only cost you £246. Of course the math only works if you want a IID and a BAS remote remap

Man maths in action. Though you can get an IID for shade over £400 when Duckworth do group buys.

Iid is very very good and the backup from Pat is excellent , but and theres always a but as the cars move down the price range people just wont spend 400 quid on a diagnostic tool, so either the others will up their game or iIID will come down in price.
On the upside and IID will always have a second hand value.

Yes, thats the trouble, depending upon whose valuation I believe, the IID tool is very approximately 1/4 the value of my car.

Andi I cant see any D3 being only worth 1600 quid, even one with a blown motor will be worth more.
