Dunc you are correct. If you pull the lever at anything above a few mph, it beeps rapidly, puts a message up saying "parking brake applied" and then executes a full emergency stop using the ABS system on the main service brakes. Only when the vehicle has slowed to 6mph (?) does it then apply the parking brake system.
Jack up each rear wheel and check for sideways movement - could be a failed wheel bearing. Are the wheel nuts tight? Is the CV joint very loose? has the exhaust heatshield come adrift and is rubbing on the propshaft? Is there oil leaking from the rear diff?

Bah, no jacks here at the mo, and tractor is in for repair having sprung a bearing, so I can't use that to lift it either

I've had 3 out of 4 replaced on mine, symptoms mild juddering like thrown a wheel weight, also if driven much (few miles) the disc can get hot enough to glow. No grinding or rumbling noise though. Drove the 35 miles to the stealers at 30mph (pulling over for stuff behind) with 20min stops every 5 miles, still quicker than waiting for recovery.

Indy has just been - nowt wrong with EPB nor any of the brake discs or callipers, which would thus suggest propshafts.... nice. L322 FFRR V8 - Gawn

Probably all that gratuitous power put through it from the V8, wouldn't have happened to out poorly outputted smelly diesels!!!!
Only kidding, hope you get it sorted soon!! Is it under any sort of warranty??

Aye, they couldn't skin a rice pudding.
Sadly no "proper" warranty other than the self-certified one from the selling dealer... trouble is they're 120 miles away, so will be talking to them about offering some sort of contribution to the bill from my Indy.

Right, she's gawn and is up on a ramp at my indy, will let you know what he finds...
From last night, his feelings were:
Propshaft
"Centre" diff
Gearbox
Or combination of the above...
Not good.

Right, looks like one of the propshafts has destroyed itself. Not been to see it yet, but Indy's feeling is a whole section of bolts which should have been done up were barely finger tight... one wonders how long they've been like that.... his thought is it's fairly likely they left the factory like that and has been a ticking timebomb ever since. Now nicely coated in swarf from the ends of the shaft.....

Yep, front prop shaft lunched.... £300 plus fitting later it should be back on the road.
