Major issues: EPB I think? Due out ASAP!!!
Hmm, today is not my day clearly.
Have just popped out for some milk, all was well until coming home there was a god awful grinding from the rear of the car, accompanied by a heck of a lot of shaking. Got out and checked anything and everything, nothing obvious untoward, and no warning lights of any kind.
Started off again, and the grinding becomes more obvious as speed rises, and when I come off the power, the car stops VERY quickly with an extra side order of grinding and shaking....
On the assumption it was an EPB issue, I did the release sequence posted on here: hold down EPB, run through sys check, then start engine, and all went fine but driving up and down the drive, the problem persists. I then popped the cover off and yanked on the release cable, and again, the problem persists.
Wifey's A8 is in the garage (with brake problems, oh the irony) and I'm due to pick my four year old up from the panto in an hour, any ideas? Is this an EPB issue or something more serious?L322 FFRR V8 - Gawn

If it is an epb issue, (it sounds like it is), the drum part of the disc will be pretty hot and you may find a lot more brake dust on the affected wheel (depends how far you have driven it I guess). I suggest you make other arrangements to pick your nipper up TBH.

Deffo sounds like you need to call LRA, then they should sort you out with a rental (assuming less than 3 years old). If you take it to the stealer you are in the lap of the gods re loaner. If they ask is it drivable say no as it could destroy itself totally at any time.

Hmm. Is this the sort of thing this TFC chap can sort? And quickly? Or am I doomed in taking the beast down to the dark pits of Droitwich to that shower of shoes that is the LR dealer there?L322 FFRR V8 - Gawn

I think it's well known, that if you own a Land Rover out of warranty or LRA, you also need a second car (preferrably not another LR though) ......Mines under ext warranty, and I've still got a second car,and the wife has hers, that's how confident I am of the product. ............Of course TFC could sort it for you if he's available.

Just got back from Naples with full LPG bottles for the BBQ! Bought all the hot weather gear for the next Tunisia trip from Columbia outlet store just off I75, got one shirt for $8.49, will be back to see if there are any more! No room for tools as hand baggage only, will be vacuum packing new purchases as it is.

Doesn't sound like it's the EPB - my indy has popped over this morning and doesn't think there's owt wrong with it, so the hunt begins to find out what else has failed instead. He's coming back over this afternoon.
Currently the EPB still works perfectly well as an Emergency Brake (and stops the car) so seems to be engaging and disengaging properly...

as i understand it if you use the EPB whilst driving the braking is also supported by the disc brakes - can anyone confirm this - so testing the EPB operation on the move may give a wrong impression.
I'm sure paganuk mentioned that his epb wasnt working at all but it still passed an emergency brake testDuncan
