major shuddering after cleaning brakes/ adj EPB

so today stripped the rear brakes down and adjusted the EPB, nothing major but it did take some time as i snapped the pad sensor and had to go a few miles to get another,

thanks also to TFC who was on the end of the phone for a few questions Thumbs Up Bow down

anyway, after getting it all done and back together went to the supermarket,, and it feels like i'm driving over a cattle grid,, from about 40 upwards it feels like the thing is going to shake itself to pieces,,, feels way worse than a wheel throwing a weight,,

any ideas? Big Cry

the big problem is i've got to drive to edinburgh tomorrow. with eife/ baby and fully loaded with kit for a show,,

. REALLY need it to work,,

Wheels hot after juddering?? Binding caliper highly poss. Might need new caliper, have had 3 replaced on mine & one on SWMBO's. On one occasion pulled over after shuddering and disc was glowing. Hope not but those are my experiences, others vary. I'd take it out on a wee run & just gently & carefully check the temp if each hub area with the back if your hand.

i actually had a hot rear left hub a week ago,, it was that that prompted me to get in and sort them out,

followed some instructions to free the calliper,, and that appears to be working just fine now,, the wheels are not getting hot at all, think the epb is still squealing slightly. but this shuddering is totally new, and has only come on after i've spent all day cleaning and sorting..

thanks for the help dsl,, appreciated none the less, Thumbs Up keep it coming,, Bow down

did you overtighten the EPB adjustment, try slackening off a few notches

Although, are you sure you tightened up the wheel bolts properly? (I'm not laughing at you, because I've done it before Embarassed )

was the first time i've ever done the epb adjust so could be VERY likely to have balls'd it up,

as for the wheel nuts,, can't imagine i didnt tighten them enough,, esp as i managed to snap the wheel brace that comes with the D3.. but tomorrow will check all wheel nuts,, right after i take them off again to loosen the epb nuts,,

it's "away" from the spring isnt it,, Censored

OK...so we've ascertained that you managed to tighten them up at least "nearly finger tight" as the jack usually breaks after much more than that anyway Laughing Laughing

Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

what amazes me was that the guy in hunters derby kept a straight face when he said " first time i've ever seen one of them snap" Shocked

also a shock at the amount of white D4's, FFRR and RRS in derby,, Sheep
