If it's got Ernie Bilko's approval, it has gotta be an auto! Wink Thumbs Up

Switzerland 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 HSE Auto Tonga GreenDiscovery 3

An auto is the best, of course it is.

For just bimbling around - auto mode.

Traffic Light Grand Prix - Sport mode (+electronic parking brake Wink)

Mountain passes - command shift mode. Only do remember that to get into manual mode going downhill already on the brakes that a tug backwards might just get you into 1st gear already Wink

Forget Klosters run down to the A3 - I've done the Gottard pass twice and part of the St Bernardino pass once in the last month. On the bright side, the Bernardino pass gets the best out of the steery adaptive lights - some of the hairpins get you to the second level of lighting Shocked (and uphill that murders your MPG too!)

England 2007 Discovery 3 TDV6 HSE Auto Java BlackDiscovery 3

I drive both, all day, every day. Would recommend auto to all of my customers. The manual box is a terrific improvement over the D2, but somehow does not "suit" the character of the D3. You do still have manual control through the Comand Shift on the gearbox. Also at HSE level people will expect an auto when you come to resell the car.

Hope that helps with the decision process...
