I took delivery of four late D3 HSE wheels fitted with General Grabbers, and loaded them into the D3 along with the four new Pirelli ATR's

I also bought a new MAF sensor and ECT sensor after reading about the MPG gain another member got after changing his.

According to my dash I've been averaging about 22 -23mpg for the last twelve months. So after changing the two sensors over I decided to take it on a 25 mile journey to see what reading I'd get...........good news, I've never seen the MPG so high in all of my ownership!

Hopefully it'll continue to climb and then climb even further after having my gearbox reconditioned!

One of my rear anti roll bar links had been knocking so I changed them both and also changed the D bushes while I was at it.

Since changing my wheels I seem to now not have a tall enough jack or axle stands, which is mighty confusing
What a pig the top two ARB link bolts are to cut off if they are seized on, I ended up holding a hacksaw blade in my hand and doing it like that! The bottom two I could get to with my 18v grinder!
The other major drama I had was one of the bolts holding the D bush clamp on decided as well as being mighty tight it was also going to round off
I managed to force a 1/2" socket on to it, slide a piece of galvanised tube over the ratchet handle for more leverage and use a crowbar to keep the ratchet/socket forced down. It was a right PITA but I got there eventually!

I'm guessing the old bushes could have been SuperPro or similar

After buying some colour coded bumpers and a tailgate handle cover off Slimer (for a very good price,) and the lower tailgate strip off MMJ, I then dropped them off to get sprayed Java Black. Got the call to say they were ready so picked them up this afternoon.

I eventually got round to fitting the rear parts a few days after the front. Lights, bumper, tailgate trim all removed, and then the tailgate handle which is still fitted in the pic.

What a thread! Just spent the last 40 odd minutes getting to know vinnie. What a journey!
Of all the wonderful things you have achieved, right at the start you put Dr Tranny in as a temp fix. I'm getting similar judders and engine hunting between gears. Are you still running the box with Dr.T or did you swap out the TQ converter in the end?
Curious to see if it is still holding out?

Dr Tranny held out ok for about 12 months but then some of the tell tale signs started creeping back in. I've still not got the juddering back but I have other symptoms instead!
As my D3 is a high miler I plan on having the gearbox reconditioned
If I was in your position and your mileage isn't too high then I'd skip the Dr Tranny and have the TC replaced! Some on here have it mega flushed and report that sorts it out.
In my opinion though, Dr tranny only prolongs the inevetable!

I had my AC leak diagnosed on Sunday and it turned out to be the condenser at fault. So armed with Mikey's "how to" I decided to have a bash at replacing it!
It's bit of a fiddly job and quite a tight squeeze to get the new one back in but I got there in the end! One of the T40 bolts snapped off and it literally took me hours to remove but perseverance and patience won in the end!

Nice thread Iceman, enjoyed the read. Very jealous of that private working space. I'm into my first week of Discovery ownership (see profile for thread) and mine's exactly how yours looked when you first got it. Curious how they'll both end up, I'll keep an eye out.

Steering rack
Out of curiosity Iceman08, where did you get the steering rack? also was it a direct from land rover or a reconditioned part?

Hows week one treating you so far, any nasty surprises?! It definitely comes in handy having use of a ramp, I don't use it as much as I should though! I'll pop over and check your thread out now and like you say, it'll be interesting to see how they both end up!

I got it from the site sponsor Advanced Factors, it was a reconditioned part. I'm having my doubts about it now and when I get a minute I'm going to get it looked over as I still have a lot of 3-9 o'clock play in the wheels
