Metalic clonk when on full reverse lock?

I am occasionally getting a loud metalic clonk when on full lock reversing off my drive. Seems to be when it is just coming off the pavement slope.

Don't remember my old one doing it but the Freelander used to do something similar.

Anyone any thoughts?

Cliff, I wonder if it is the 'lower steering column' problem reported previously?

Cliff, seem to remember Gareth posting on this ages ago, there's a 'lock stop' on the lower suspension arm

could you give a description of that problem - I have noticed a slight clunk from the steering over a 4" ridge I have on my drive, I didnt know about a steering issue - but you have got me thinking.

She has it every day Crying or Very sad
No more vandal damage since last week Twisted Evil
I am airing towards a tree hugger as the locals near the school are apperently very friendly.
Local (big) bodyshop say they can repair it for £100 plus VAT and they will do it on Saturday, keeping my fingers crossed it looks OK Rolling Eyes

You can certainly see where the lock stops hit, they are quite scuffed.
Only had some very thin grease for now, have put that on and tried it a couple of times and seams ok (although it didn't happen every time before). Will follow up with some thicker grease anyway.

Mine used to make a similar noise when it was dry and on full lock, especially going up and round the tight bends in multi storey car parks. It has stopped now, I think 10forcash is on the right track suggesting the stops. Mine seem to have “bedded in” now.
