Metallic grinding noise!
Hi,
I have just noticed a metallic grinding noise whic starts at speeds above 10mph, i thought it was breaks, but breaking has no effect, could it be the EPB? it did bind on once @70mph, but i stopped the vehicle, it reset and i've had no problems since. The noise seems pretty constant once it starts. Any help is most appreciated2007 TDV6 SE

Could always be a wheel bearing. I had a similar expensive sounding noise,
Easy enough to check, by jacking up each wheel and checking for play. There is no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothes.

Has it been off road before the noise started? I've heard this sort of noise from the heat shield getting bent up.
I hope it's not your diff. Does the noise change as the revs change - try sticking it into neutral while going along. This will help indicate engine issue or not.
Could well be a stone though, and I hope it is!D3 HSE MY05 Auto

Thanks for all your tips, well.... i took it to the stealer, they told me it would be fixed in a hour, after 2 days they told me it was ready, got in it, drove it 200 yards, noise is still there, they asked me to take it back and i politley informed them that quite contravertially i wanted to use my car now for work as i had to do some! (work that is). Coupls of days later, fired it up, and engine warning light came on, dealer informed me it was the NS EGR valve, i was flabergasted at this because its had most of the EGR system replaced, but now that is the problem. So to recap, 2 days to remove the noise, no fix, 3 visits for EGR and 2 weeks off the road already for the system, more issues (OS EGR and EGR cooler have already been replaced). I don't think i'm asking too much for a car of this age and mileage to be relatively reliable (3 years, 64k mile). To top it off LR have informed me i have to pay in full for the EGR valve which was the last straw. the car has been in for 19 warranty repairs in its short life (diffs, losing coolant, new ball joints, track rod arms etc, etc...), and it is with sadness i am letting it go, I was going to get a LR4, but i don't think i can justify the heartache, i love the car but unfortunatley its not a hobby, i need it to be reliable, good service is a must and most importantly confidence in the manufacturer. It will be gone by Friday, and my new journey begins. Thanks for the input guys, i hope your Disco experience is better than mine2007 TDV6 SE

i can sympathise- mine is 3 1/2 yrs old- 50k miles
spent numerous times in dealers to fix small faults over the 3yrs it was in warranty. When u spend in xs of £40k on a car u expect it to be reliable at least
I wonder if i would get same number of faults in a merc or BMW
now it is out of manufacturers warranty i'm keeoing my fingers crossed that aftermarket warranty pays up for expensive things
perhaps if they are so unreliable then LR should supply a longer warranty!
