Mileage Not As advertised

Hi all,

I went to put a deposit down today on a 2010 HSE D4, advertised price was just over £38k with 22,000 miles.

When checking the mileage it was actually 33k, the salesman at the dealership checked and said one of the girls must have done typo error when listing the vehicle.

I'm not desperate so can take or leave it, how much less would you say i should offer as i told him i would not have to think about it overnight.

Thanks

I'd leave it, if you can't trust the guy on the milage, do you think they will help you if it goes wrong?

There no shortage of cars for sale, keep looking until you fine a good one!

Yours look great, gotta have dark trim though as i'll be using it for a little shooting.
Hate to think how it would look with all the mucky clothes and dogs jumping in it Very Happy

We see plenty of mud and I find the almond interior actually hides the mud rather better than a dark interior and cleans up fine. It's quite a surprise. Best to put a good boot liner in in either colour trim.

Ive always gone for black interiors before , ended up with current D4 at the right price with all the toys but with what i thought at the time the wrong interior.

I've ordered with new one with exactly the same interior, it hides the dirt/dust really well better than black and cleans up without issue. A couple of seat covers and and hatch bag and your sorted.

We have the almond interior on the D4 and the ebony interior on the RRS. We have dogs, kids, mountain bikes, canoes and go rough shooting & offroading in both vehicles. Surprsingly the almond is a much more practical interior colour. The ebony interior on the RRS shows every mark (a bit like a black car shows every bit of dirt) whereas the almond masks the dirt really well.

A little harsh I think ! Shocked

It may just be a case of like he said, someone has typed or been given wrong information on the write up, easy done. But saying that there should be a discount for the extra mileage. I would say start your negotiations again at £2500 less and see how he takes it ? Wink

Unnecessary quote removed

Thanks for the replies, i will give the lighter interior a rethink.
I prefer the look but was worried about the practicalities, but from what people say it may be the better option.

With Ref to the discount on mileage, which i guess is 12 months worth, he offered £600 which i laughed at and left with him.

I'll see what he comes up with today.

Best regards....... baz

Of course you are! What would be interesting is if you walked away, would they change the mileage to reality. One man's sales strategy is another man's "oops sir, mistake. Honest".

does this not come under the term 'false adverisment'. may be you should suggest a big discount or you may just happen to let trading standards know...

or is that bad of me to suggest that?
 Cheers

Had similar experience recently. So called dealer had flashy website, advertised his motors on all the motoring websites and clearly all 120 cars had one owner and low mileage.
When I checked docs they had 2/3 previous and mileage on bills didn't add up. Report to local Trading Standards and their response........ We'll send him a letter reminding him of his obligations!! Sad
