I have a March 2015 D4 and it doesn't have/need a misfuel gizmo.
The filler is always blocked but is 'push through able' by the nozzle at the fuel stations.
If I need to fuel up from a can the vehicle was supplied with a small funnel which is also 'Push through able' to enable filling.

Yep that's what it is for but if you use it make sure you wrap it in some material and then keep it in a poly bag, preferably airtight !!
I wrap mine in a bit of blue towel to soak up any drips and then wrap it in poly paper and then keep it inside a jiffy bag with an elastic band around the top and keep it under my passenger seat.
I go through this ritual to prevent the inside of my vehicle smelling of diesel, like it did when I first used it !!!
