Missing tow bar!

Hi... I've searched the forum and manual. Got a 2004 7 seater TDV6 (2 weeks in) need to borrow friend's trailer so thought I's set up the detachable tow bar. Got the slot and plastic cap set up under the back bumper but manual says the actual tow bar hook is kept in the left vertical side boot compartment. Nothing there! Is that the only place It could be may I ask?!!... Have I been sold a motor with the hook missing? There was no luggage cover either which not bothered about.

If I can't find the hook then on to eBay it is for me.

Tow hook is not a standard item but would have thought if the previous owner had towed and you have the tow electrics then the removable tow bar should heve been with the vehicle unless it got sold off independently Rolling Eyes

eBay will get you one, plenty about .....

The tow bar was an option, have you got the electrics fitted? If yes then previous owner probably kept it, if not doubtful your car has ever had the towbar installed. All D3/4's have the slot and the plastic cap regardless of if they have the towbar fitted. If it was fitted from factory it should be in a polystyrene holder behind the left storage locker (looking from the rear of the D3) in the boot.

Thanks for your quick replies. I wasn't looking to tow until today and just thought it was a Brucie bonus that came with the car as I could see the slot under the bumper where it attaches. I just thought that it was all part of one kit but obviously not. They are average £150 on eBay so will avoid due to my minimal requirements (wanting to pick up some bathroom tiles and not wanting to put weight onto the air suspension). The independent dealer I bought from still has ad online but doesn't mention tow bar so I can't complain to them.

Oh well. Thanks again. Don't know where I would be without the great community on this forum. The D3 is such an immensely complex car and the manual is inadequate in some places.

Had 50 breeze blocks in mine and the air suspension took it in its stride no trouble - adjusted level within seconds of starting up once loaded.

Over the many LR's i have had the more you load them the better they perform.

Seems it can be a combination of things - mine came with the bar but no electrics Shocked

TLO soon sorted though - 13 pin plug in kit, 1/2 hour work and bobs your uncle Wink

I've had 20 bags of slate in the back of mine, so 500KG. I wouldn't worry!
