MOT advisories on D4 for sale
Hi
Been and looked at a 2010 HSE D4 today, nice motor but there are quite a few advisories. To be fair I think most are nothing to worry about but would like to get some opinions please. See pic attached.
For me, the ones that cause concern are the brake hose corrosion to ferrules and air suspension slightly deteriorated. Thoughts?
To be honest with what has been put down it does look like it could possibly be an overzealous inspector. I have had this before with a previous car where it was given advisories for deteriorated bush rubbers, and ‘under tray fitted’ even though it had not been on previous MOT’s, and was not on any further MOT’s since (didn’t go back there). The fact it shows ‘towball/hitch not fitted at time of test’ reinforces this (my previous 2 cars had removable tow bars which were never fitted for the test, never seen this ‘advisory’ before!
Also, a few questions if you dont mind:
how can you tell whether it has the timed climate? Assume this would be by finding it in the menu? Could someone let me know where so I can see if it has it
It is advertised as having a fridge but the inside of the centre console is black. Im sure the fridges are white inside? Is this correct? Again how can I tell for sure if it does have a fridge?
It is coming up to 88k miles. What mileage should the cam belt etc be done? how much would you expect to pay for this to be done from a landrover indy?
Anything else I should be looking for or bearing in mind at this mileage?
Thanks in advance
Gaz

Not sure I have uploaded the pic properly? It is in my gallery though. Do I need to copy & paste the link from my gallery into the post?

It was definitely black inside so looks like no fridge then!
Yes exactly! Looks like a bit of a jobsworth inspector imo.
Thanks DSL

Timed climate would be accessed through the menu on nav screen, can be activated if not there with suitable widget. And dibber/remote can be added, also needs activated.
Bottom right, if it's greyed out then it's not enables ISTR.

Gives you these options:

Fridges are white, yes and there is a on/off switch.
If timed climate is configured you should see a timed climate option on the touchscreen. Also the engine bay will be have a typically square silver colored device on the left side quite at the front (so in UK passenger side).
If the car is a MY10 it might be that the brake hoses haven’t been changed every 6 years... and they’re due, that’s the interval in the maintenance schedule.
You will do well to figure out what has been done to the vehicle and what hasn’t.

Agreed, main belt service should have beeñ done already, that's an expensive service if not done. Got mine due in May, anyone want a slightly abused kidney?
Re brake hoses, my dealer had a look at mine at 6 years and said they looked perfectly fine so i didn't bother. Will keep a watch on them though.

Actually I really meant (only wrote) that brake hoses were overdue but indeed the timing belt is at 112 k miles OR 7 years, as you observed.
Without seeing how the hoses look and if there is an advisory regarding them being corroded I’d be very careful and plan (budget) on changing.

To be fair, it could just have a warranty and the owner hasn’t replaced some bits as waiting for the warranty to pay out.
I’m the same to be honest. Mine has had a few MOT advisories, which I would have normally done straight away, but waiting for the warranty to pay out, which means it needs to fail first etc.
Also if it’s a 2010, the belts will be due as it’s mileage or 7 years!

Thanks all!
No timed climate then! This is something I would be interested in as im out early each morning. I understand there are people that could sort that for me what sort of ballpark figure is this? £100? £200? £300?
Also the same for brake hoses & cambelt? The car is at a dealership that sells quite a few D4’s and other landrovers as well as other makes (ive had my eye on a few D4’s that have been & gone through this place) the guy told me the local landrover specialist has quoted about £350 for cambelt. Is this bull or about right? I was expecting more like £1000. I could always call one and check.

£350 for a cambelt severvice seems very light. There are trusted indis on here that would give you a price, main dealers are ~£1,400 - £1,500.
Re timed climate, it needs a widget that is unlocked for all cars, a specialist indi should be able to quote. Or buy a widget (best one is IID BT for £400, though others are available), use it for the changes you want to do and for the time you have the car, then sell it for a large chunk of what you paid. I wouldn't dream of trying to run one of these cars without a decent diagnostic tool, and I'm not exactly techie. Will soon pay for itself in avoiding garage costs.

Yeah I think that was a bit of speel! I have just googled a local landy indy by me and the website says £760 for timing belt service.
Yes I think a diag tool will definitely go in the basket!!
