They sound like a decent outfit. I’m torn whether to buy a warranty or not. My car had a brand new engine and turbo in April so has those covered by LR for 2 years.

Wonder if they’d exclude them for a cheaper quote..

Welcome hoppy_70

Your profile is incomplete so we don't know what LR you have. I guess a late D4.

I have had Warranty Direct warranties on my various cars for many years, & have found them to be excellent.

All has changed of late though as WD had changed ownership & policies:-

The WD warranty on my D4 expires next year & I'm hoping that they offer decent renewal terms as ME doesn't appeal.

Sorted the profile Thumbs Up

I’d heard WD were on a break from selling policies (although still honouring the ones they have) ?

I believe that WD are still selling policies; have a look at their website:-

WD are indeed back in business but 'old' WD and 'new' WD are different Underwriters and hence businesses.

Feedback on here about 'old' WD seems less glowing than when it was in mainstream business but that it still works (mainly email contact over claims and takes time to get authorisation). New WD is still new but I have not heard of bad stories.

I’d have given it a punt, but there just wasn’t any feedback on the new company. Maybe it’s starting to filter back now.

The other thing that put me off was you could take it to whomever was your supplying dealership, handy if you had it from new and hadn’t moved or you’d got it locally, but otherwise you had to take it to someone they dictated. It could be anyone.

When I was enquiring, I told them I thought that would put a few people off. Why not have a nominated main dealer? Yes, they accepted that might put a few off, but basically hard luck.

Is the below the betterment clause?

Quote:
5. Improving the condition of the vehicle
This condition, detailed below, will apply unless the “Component Contribution Removal” add-on is confirmed on your customer schedule. If we pay for repairs to your vehicle, it is not our aim to put you in a better position than before the repairs were made. In certain circumstances where replacement components are fitted to replace those suffering a breakdown, and this results in your vehicle being in a better condition than it was before the failure, you must pay towards the cost of the components.
For vehicles older than 6 years or with more than 60,000 recorded miles, the following table shows the percentage component cost we will pay, depending on the vehicle’s age or mileage at the time of the breakdown. We will always pay 100% of the labour charges.
Vehicle age or Mileage Component Contribution
Up to 6 years or 60,000 miles 100%
Up to 7 years or 70,000 miles 80%
Up to 8 years or 80,000 miles 70%
Up to 9 years or 90,000 miles 60%
Over 9 years or 90,000 miles 50%

The mileage limits shown here are the total miles from the date the vehicle was first registered.

From memory (my car is too old for anything other than basic care now i.e. engine failure only), that's the one.

I got rid of the clause (following the advice on here) by contacting WD and paying a £50 fee to remove it.

WD paid out for loads of wear and tear items on the car, including one repair which I had done and then contacted them to ask if it would have been covered. They paid out, although they did say it was a one-off.
