i wouldn't be mounting a fire extinguisher just in case it went off whilst I was on top
TBH I haven’t seen/heard of quality extinguishers going off by accident although I’m sure it could happen just as it could to anything else which is pressurized. I’ve seen an oxygen tank valve break off, the tank launch like a cruise missile and travel quite a distance
If the extinguisher is stored horizontally usually before application one should dunk it in the pavement, doesn’t hurt and it tends to allow all the powder actually to come out.

Found the instructions on some Land Rover web site If you look at picture 12 onwards that’s how it fits if you’ve got electric seats.
Very useful - thank you, sir!
The extinguisher in the examples looks like a 1 kg (max 2 kg) model which is ~ 5 s of “fun” and unless you get it immediately pointed directly at the fire source amounts to ... well, not much. 8)

I'd like to fit one on the interior C pillar, so you can reach it when stood at the boot. Probably best if it's tucked up against the rear side glass so it's out of the way when loading.
someone must have done this before...... anyone?formerly Disco3Ben

I’ve seen them mounted in the back on a cargo cage door, between it and the tailgate.
I guess it would be possible to use one of the rear side lockers (the ones with the lids) as extinguisher storage if one made them larger/deeper but one would then need to lift it out for access.

I've often got equipment filling up the boot, much of which has rather lively batteries.
so something obvious and to hand would be the ideal. Think I'd got a small extinguisher in one of those rear storage bins already so just after something which is quicker to get at!formerly Disco3Ben

What’s kind of batteries?
If they’re lithium metal, it’s recommended to have a bit different (= €€€) extinguishers that use Argon as propellant instead of nitrogen since the latter reacts with Li. Similarly, water extinguishing is a no-no. Meanwhile lithium-ion batteries can be extinguished with extinguishers intended for liquid or electrical fires, even water (which isn’t indicated for liquid or electrical fires) if necessary.

On that note: powder actually is a bad choice for a fire extinguisher. The powder actually is very corrosive, and will do lots of harm to metal. Basically, you could as well let the motherf***** burn down to the ground, that's what i've benn told in the extinguisher training last year.
Foam it should be, but the problem is frost. Needs to be safe or you should take it into the house in freezing winter conditions.

Indeed, I can’t use AFFF because of the subzero temperatures.
