Hi, it’s held up very well. I still have the D4 and it’s still in place and working as well as ever!

Thanks for a quick answer. I just placed my orders for almost the same setup. I will post my result as soon as everything arrives, and are put together! Smile

Looking at doing something like this in my D4. Great write up and something I’ll definitely be looking into Thumbs Up

The ram tablet holder will take any tablet up to the advertised size with it still in its case, even if it has the front cover, a thought perhaps.

I’ve already got an old iPad 2 so will be using that. Not ruled out a windscreen mount yet though. Just weighing up the pros and cons of each option.

Low down mount has no cables snaking over the dash but might get in the way of the passenger. Windscreen mount has cables up and over the dash but not in the way of passenger however might reduce visibility.

Decisions decisions

Mine gets most use on motorway, SWMBO watches movies etc on sky go, it’s the perfect height

I bought a new cellular iPad so I can use OS maps, far easier to see than on a phone

Just for interest, I’ve just seen these on fleabay. Cheap and cheerful but removable and will take a full size tablet. Cup holders in a D4 may be too far back though.

I'm actively looking at doing this at the moment.

I have the Brodit clip but with a LR with leather (effect?) trim in the place where the clip attaches I am not sure that the clip is going to be as secure as the detailed pics OP has managed to make his. I'm going to have a go but I am also seeking the Uncle Ray ball mount for the front passenger seat which would be more substantial...

This..

Well, over 11 years from RichardB’s first post on this thread, I’ve installed an iPad mount that is similar to his.
But unlike Richards, with having to buy all the bits and make up his mount, things have moved on and now it’s just two bits - a brodit ProClip and a ready made mount bolted to it.

Could you please confirm that this is the ProClip Angled mount Item # 654413.

What please is the "ready made iPad mount bolted to it?

TIA

Yes Nigel, that is the Brodit clip I’ve installed.

To make it a more rigid fit, I added extra 3m tape along the inner facing length.
However, that was a waste of time, as the clip makes contact predominately at the two ends that clip in.

The holder I bought was this one.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/OHLPRO-BaseTablet...4422869031

I keep the iPad ‘live’ by plugging a short ‘lightning’ cable into a usb plug in the power socket.

When I don’t need the holder, I remove it from its ball plate that’s bolted onto the proclip.

Hope this is of help. Thumbs Up

Edited to add: I’ve removed the Apple logo sticker, for fear that I’m advertising that there’s an iPad in the car just ready to be stolen.
