MSV2 Vs GAP
ive an oppertunity to buy a faultmate MSV2 extreme kit for very little pennies would this be a good purchase or is the general preference that the GAP IID tool is the better choice.
for what i read they ar both generally vin and model locked unless you have "pro" licences unlocked on them.
can you do the suspension lift and recalibration whith the MSV2?
cheers lee

GAP IID every day of the week. And weekends.
IID does a lot that isn’t VIN locked as well, as I benefited from a good few times before I bought my own.

Yes you can, but its far easier to do with the IID tool, the FM has a steap learning curve.

The MSV may be very good, the IID certainly is, what would swing it for me in favour of the IID is purely the wealth of knowledge available on this forum, so no matter what you need to do someone will have already done it before.
Plus they sell like hot cakes 2nd hand, so even if you own it for a few years you will get at least 50 to 75 percent of your money back with zero issues, which makes cost of ownership virtualy nowt.
New cost is low 400s and 2nd hand is low 300s pretty much regardless of age.

Unless the MSV2 is a give away price and a stepping stone to an Iid forget it.It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

No it is not bad, the Iid is just more user friendly and logical. The MSV is a good buy at that and is very useful, far better than some other offerings if your budget is £150........ but if your budget stretches to £350 you can get a second hand Iid tool It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

i think im going to get the MSV2 as i just found its "multi license" SM129 model so for £150 id be stupid to pass it up as there is a good oppertunity there for me .
im a mechanic by trade and do custom vehicle remaps, im used to using delphi / vagcom / vcds so ill pick it up quick as im used to setting adaption values and coding ecus / canbus units etc
maybe ill offer a faultmate upgrade / remap service?? who knows

i dont think its missing as the guy has sent me screenshots of his BBS account page with the tool data and serial number as i requested them earlier for that very reason
You will have to change ownership and that comes with a fee, also dont forget every other vehicle that you need a module for will cost you extra.
And you will need to go through BBS for any remaps.

After the issues I had, I certainly wouldn't be using the MSV for any sort of CCF editing My D3 Build Thread
